Brilliant 1st half, shocking 2nd half, the defence was all over the joint, far too much space in the middle, Rio looked lost handling Frei and Jones dilly dallied and looked under a cloud most of the game, awful, Berbatov should have passed to Nani at the end instead of going for glory... Wasted....

    Midfield was worse.

If the game is end-to-end, it's because the midfield hasn't taken control. But Rio's starting to look past it.

Midfield was confusing as everyone gave the ball away apart from Carrick possibly, Anderson was woeful, improvements needed, Chelsea exposed the defence, its just as well the dont have clinical finishers...

Basel played well, very lively going forward. But our midfield let them play well.

Will be a tricky away fixture.

they have their refs calling league games..

look at the euro ref gave that penalty correctly..
and still Fergie is complaining that it is not a penalty - Shameless Fergie..

The ref was a ****ing twat, he got in the way of our play 3 times in the last 10 or so minutes. One of them looked like it was set for a Ji-Sung Park game winning volley, but ****face decided to stand in the way.

The ref was poor for both teams. But it doesn't take away from us being poor. carrick and Anderson were not good together. valencia is still finding match fitness and Fabio has played very little. I'd have liked to see Fletcher come on. Maybe not fit. I personally didn't think it was a penalty as the player was behind valencia when he lunged for the ball.

There's a big difference between a conspiracy and a conspiracy theory. The "refs favour united" is the second one in that like most conspiracy theory's rather than being fact It is the inane ramblings of people who can't accept what really happened. United were better.

I don't think the draw is much to worry about though just a bad day. I think that Fergie needs to make a decision on his centre back pairing and stick with it. Vidic Jones would be best imo for you with Smalling at Right back.

If you think the refs are calling games in our favour in league games, then you obviously didn't see the Stoke game on Saturday. Can you also explain to me why Bosingwa didn't see red for the penalty incident in the United - Chelsea game btw? I mean, our forward is bearing down on goal, centre of the area and he's brought down just as he's about to shoot. That's a textbook professional foul, is it not? And yet not even so much as a booking.

The problem is that with injuries it's difficult to field a settled back four. It's been a problem for a few seasons now, and our defensive record has worsened as a result.

  19. No Rooney, no chance.

Being a one-player team is always precarious, but at least you all now realise why it is that Fergie was prepared to bend over backwards and take a shafting, when Rooney put in his transfer request in order to double his wages. Fergie is not stupid. He may have gotten rid of the likes of Paul "the Gov'nor" Ince, Beckham and Tevez because they began to challenge his authority, but he knew that United would survive without those players - and he was right. But he also knew that United would not survive without Rooney, which was why (perhaps for the first time in his entire career), he was prepared to be rogered silly by Rooney and his switched-on agent.

Don't worry, though. As soon as Rooney returns, you'll get back to your winning ways <ok>

Goes to show how weak the prem is when Benfica frustrate UNited Basle and Bayern, who have always played better than UNited when they played them, beat city handy enough, both the teams at the top of the prem table were shown their true level.
