It's a giant kettle with a control panel stuck on it. Difficult to go wrong.

Vokera are as good as any.

Halstead Eden are pretty damn good. Had one for 15 years and it was faultless.

Viessmann. We’ve had it fitted for about 10 years now and it has been awesome. Far better than the problematic pile of ****e we had before it which was continuously breaking down and that was only about 5 years old.

Could be talking out of my arse here but I'm sure I read once that if you have a boiler installed by a plumber who isn't accredited for that particular brand the warranty could be affected.

    Worth checking I'd have thought.

All boilers are made by the devil. A licence to print money if they go wrong. Get one with a bloody good guarantee.

I've got an old boiler, been going 25+ years now. Can be temperamental and expensive to maintain but overall does the job. Wouldn't swap her for the world.

I’ve been supplying and fitting boilers for the last 30 years, all and every manufacturer, and every time I go back to Ideal, firstly they are assembled in Hull, parts a relatively cheap, easy to get and fit, they have made some great, good and crap boilers like everyone does, the ideal Logic max has a 10 year warranty, the Ideal Vogue has a 12.

It’s the countries best selling boiler and percentage wise the breakdown stats are very good, the after sales team are excellent, as are the repair crews.

Another factor is installer preference, I don’t want customers ringing me up telling me their boiler isn’t working, it’s usually water pressure but it’s very rare I get a call with an Ideal, and if I do they get fixed next day if under warranty.

Worcester I was told by both my mate who was a gas plumber and the gas plumber I use have gone downhill with their current range, and not worth the extra cost.

Ideal was my mates recommendation, but I ended up with a Vaillant.

And obviously, whatever you do, do not use British Gas. Goes without saying.

We were happy with an Ideal that we had for over 25 years but had to replace because spare parts were no longer available when it failed. We have since replaced it a few years ago with an ATAG which our installer recommended, we are very happy with it and have had no issues whatsoever

Have a look (I am not on commission btw!)
