Really cracking lad. It's a real shame what injuries have done to him, especially whilst some complete ****ers continue to make a fortune from the game. Hope he gets a good move and gets some luck with injuries
Unfortunately I think that he has had one serious injury too many and is finished as he has lost the pace that he had. That degree is a huge bonus in helping him to find a job outside football if he has to call it a day.
So in other words he will probably end up at Liverpool and score the winner in the Champions league next year.
Him and his father have always carried themselves with integrity. I wish him all the best in the future, but sadly I don’t think that’s going to be in football.
Football Clubs also employ administrators. They have CEO's. Duncan's CV already looks promising, IF that's the route he wants to take. However I wouldn't be surprised if he were to head North to Scotlasnd for the next phase of his career. Whatever he does I will follow his progress with interest. As a 'Role Model' for youngsters it is hard to imagine a better example.
I always think that its harsh as **** when people talk about him being just pace and like a dog with a balloon. Heard it loads at the match. When he was in the England u21 side he looked a real prospect, and he did well in the PL for us. He wasn't just a speed merchant, he looked genuinely good (and as if he'd rip the **** out of league one). I just hope that he can recapture that because of every lad linked with our club he seems like one who truly deserves it
Such a shame, so raw and direct. Used to scare **** out of tiring top flight defenders. Two cruciate injuries. Lucky to still be playing. I'd be thinking about calling it a day if I were him. Great head on his shoulders, seems daft to risk middle age mobility for lower league football when he's smart enough to make a fantastic living with his brain.
He is still quick imo., I hope some club at a higher level will offer him a chance, he is a brave lad, and I wish him well, whatever he decides to do.
Wish him well, clearly a talented footballer who sadly has had a lot of potential cut away with injuries. He had more than just pace, but his pace while a huge asset helped to cause those injuries as a lot of players just hacked him down and the tackle at Wycombe was horrendous. One point, and its more something about the mail, but nice way of wording the headline etc as if we released him. He was out of contract and the sheer size of his wages meant that a new contract was never going to be offered.
