College admissions in the U.K.

How often does a lad or lass from Sunderland get accepted into Cambridge, Oxford, or Imperial College London, and why do these schools have such a high percentage of international students attending?

These places are really highly ranked educational establishments so a qualification from these places has more status than a degree from the local polytechnic that became a university, and international students pay a **** load in fees. It's about nine grand a year for UK students and anywhere from 25 grand to nearly 60 grand for international students for undergraduate courses.

A lot of folk struggle to spell their own names up here, mate. Finishing school is an achievement in itself.
