Racing on Wednesday comes from Salisbury, Newcastle, Nottingham and Kempton on the flat and in Ireland from Sligo over the jumps. Plenty of big fields for the adventurous to get stuck into, although it definitely seems like quantity rather than quality.

Salisbury starts with a couple of maidens for Nass to get stuck into, in the first there's a Haafhd filly for Princess and Swanny. The 3rd race on the card is named after Haafhd but none of his kids are in it and it should be another one for Hannon/Hughes.

Newcastle also opens with a maiden where we have no less than 3 Godolphin runners, Newmarket raiders from Haggas and Gosden (Billy Buick makes the long trip North) plus Michael Bell has another one of those "Gabrials" whatever horses, ridden by the champ. In the second race we see the reappearance of the exquisitely named Kung Hei Fat Choy who could put his experience at Donny last time to good use and go close at a price. Danbo's horse Broctune Papa Gio goes in the 4.50 and should appreciate the better ground but we'll wait for official word from Mr Heisenburg <ok>

King Kieran is at Notts and rides a nice looking one for Godolphin in the 3.55.

But the undisputed highlight of the day is in the 6.05 at Sligo where man-mountain Shark Hanlon sends out Ardglen under an 8lbs penalty to try and rack up his 4th victory in 9 days. Ardglen won at Balinrobe on 19th Sept (2m6f heavy), Listowel 23rd Sept (2m4f heavy), Clonmel 25th Sept (2m4f good) and goes over 3m here. His regular jockey Brian Hayes takes off 7lbs and I will be willing this tremendously tough chaser on to make it 4 out of 4. Cracking stuff <ok>

Like the look of a fair few tomorrow

3.20 Nottingham Come Here Yew 10/1
4.10 Salisbury Oil Strike 9/1 NAP
4.30 Nottingham Love Your Looks FC 16/1
5.10 Salisbury Miss Topsy Turvy 4/1

I won't have time for write ups but I'll put a few notes below

Oil Strike has a fantastic chance and 9/1 is huge in my opinion. He should definitely be up to winning off this mark and the talented James Rogers takes off another 5lb. Winkworth in good form and has a good record with the jockey too.

Come Here Yew may not like the firm ground but he looks progressive and at 10s I'll have a play.

Love Your Looks is interesting and was a big eye catcher LTO even though she finished way back in 3rd. There is definitely some talent in this horse and she'll be 1 to keep an eye on in nurseries. Murphy generally tries to pounce on horses 3rd starts so she could make a bold bid today.

Miss Topsy Turvy looks a progressive sort and I'll be hoping the ground dries out for her. She should stay the 1m6f and if on song she'll take a lot of beating

I too am waiting to hear the word for BPG as he looks to be in with a storming chance tomorrow if the ground stays dry and fingers crossed for Heisenberg that he does the business

Evening, people. The action tomorrow looks not too bad and I'll nominate one running in the old 'lucky last' at Salisbury:

Miss Topsy Turvy (5.10 Salisbury) - am a little bit undecided about whether or not this is a lovely name for a filly, by the way. But regardless I think she has a decent chance of obliging here after putting up some good efforts this term (is a dual winner) and does not look harshly treated off 74. Judging by the way Miss Topsy Turvy stayed on last time out the step up to 14 furlongs should deffo suit and John Dunlop should always be followed with his 3YO stayers at this time of the year given his successes over the years with this type of horse.

Meanwhile, people, Tom Symonds (Mr Henderson's former assisitant) may finally have his first runner as a trainer at Huntingdon on Sunday.

    Good luck to all.

Interesting stuff Sir Barney. John Dunlop has had 36 winners from 245 runners with 3yos in races of 14 furlongs or more since 2003. 7-54 in September and 6-41 in October. Interesting though he is 3-5 when sending them up to the North East, Catterick, Redcar, Newcastle. Good luck with Miss Topsy Turvy.

    Morning all,

Cheers Danbo, off to NZ two weeks tomorrow mate. My sell of Wales has cost me a bit but made some nice money out of alot of the games so far.

Defo mate, would be good to catch up.

I couldnt believe the 8s available on BPG this morning. Sounds like a cracking bet to me!!! Hopefully the word is positive as well. If you are able to let us know that would be really great mate.

FAO Nass: You are correct with reference to your comment about putting 2 selections from the same race in a multiple bet, it is not allowed <ok>

No bookie in the land would accept the bet knowingly! They obviously take bets by mistake now and then due to the nature of employing cashiers instead of personnel who understand bets and racing nowadays.

Would be interested to know how they settled your bet though, i'll ask down at my Billys on the way home, think it would have got voided and all stake returned there. <cheers>

Some nice races today especially at Salisbury, a couple that have received a few shillings from my good self are listed below:

450 Newc: BPG will enjoy the faster conditions and was in awesome form prior to not performing in the soft ground LTO.

130 Sal: Nice race to start the day and there are 2 i like but have decided to back Oxford Charley from the Magnusson yard. The danger could be Fine Resolve.

200 Sal: Dedication is very well bred and this filly could be up to winning this at a nice price.

345 Newc: One of my favourite horses in training (not only because she has the same name as my youngest LOL) runs today and after disappointing on the AW LTO can bounce back to winning ways today. Don't worry if this lady is sat out the back, she generally loves to come with a late rattle down the outside away from other horses, since they started riding her this way she has improved greatly. Days best bet IMO <cheers>

but we confident as Gary states its the ground that un done him last time
he likes newcastle and if i remember right and the draw numbers are high far side then he has a plum draw as well

    stay frosty

Contender for thread of the year this one in my humble opinion. Did it or did it not happen at the bookies?!? I wonder if they are taking bets about it?!?

Anyway, Mr Henderson has now formally booked 'King' Kieren to ride his second string in next weekends Cesarawitch which really says it all about the strength of his 'hand' in said contest. A reverse exacta has to be on the cards, if both Veiled and Sentry Duty remain fit and well and make it to old Newmarket, but I beg my regular readers not to get involved in this bet as by doing so, people, you will limit my Tote return. Thank you.

Finally, here's one for the great brains on the forum, do Kempton Park set some of record tomorrow eve by running a pair of claiming races back to back (5.40 and 6.10)??? Has this, I say has this, ever been done before???
