Jamie Redknapp was completely sure you could see Sanchez's arm muscle ripple as the ball went past it and that looked plausible. I can see why VaR didn't give it though as there was no conclusive angle that showed a touch.

And of course it is worth checking what the Laws say....
"Handling the ball It is an offence if a player:
    • deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, including moving the hand/arm towards the ball
    • gains possession/control of the ball after it has touched their hand/arm and then
    • scores in the opponents’ goal
    • creates a goal-scoring opportunity
    •  scores in the opponents’ goal directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper"

This doesn't cover what happened as Sanchez neither gained possession nor scored directly.

Neither did he 'knock' the ball to a team mate who scored. the only player to touch the ball after he maybe did, was the WH player.

BTW isn't it good to see some corners missing the first man- that was a big positive from last nights game.

New defence set up. And Jose has now had time to work with them and set up his way.

Jan is off. Toby is our experienced back up to our CBs of Dier, Davinson and Japhet. He can pass on wisdom.
Neither of those 3 are brilliant ( maybe JT will be -he's certainly showed glimpses ) and not on the level of VDV or the other JT but UTD won the title with Smalling and Jones

Interesting. It's not a goalscoring opportunity, even though a goal was scored. He didn't want that outcome, did he?
I wonder if that's actually what's supposed to happen? Clarification from The Powers That Be would be nice.

One thing I noticed last night, Sanchez was trying to hit the sort of chipped passes that Toby's been pinging from the back for years

Weirdly, though, I don't think he should: in the past Dier's shown he can deliver that kind of ball from the back, so surely he should be trying to ping them over the top?

Every recent change to the laws has loads of ridiculous unforeseen effects...they seem to be making it up as they go along.
On a straight reading of the Law even if it deflected off his arm to one of our players it wouldn't be handball because Sanchez wouldn't have had possession or control at any stage. But the PL handbook summarises the rule like this...."Any goal scored or created with the use of the hand or arm will be disallowed this season even if it is accidental" which is not what the Law says

It's a basic but inaccurate summary of the law. Probably what they meant it to be, but not what it actually states.

That's definitely what's happening in English football. Things seem slightly less ridiculous in some other countries.

He played new years day at Southampton...came off injured and did not play again until Friday night...
1st goal in 2020 sounds much more sky than 1st goal in 3 games...and there is no sky ness in the narrative being kane scores his third goal in 5 games

    Pass map time

please log in to view this image

    The main takeaways
    * Lo Celso was a full-on metronome
    * Kane's dot is bigger than Lloris', which is a vast improvement on some of our games this season...
    * A lot, and I mean a lot, of Dier and Sanchez passing the ball among themselves
    * There's something bizarre about how Aurier received the ball, bombed forwards...and only ever passed back to Sanchez
    * Similar can be said of Lucas: the ball reaches him, and if he doesn't pass to Kane it vanishes
    * Remember a few weeks back when I suggested Dele be used like Jay Rodriguez by making late breaks to the far post instead of through the middle? That does appear to be how he was deployed last night

So do we use Lo Celso as an attacking midfielder or in a deeper role? Might depend on the opposition.

As promised, DH's Road Trip returns for another episode! Though apologies in advance, due to the glum nature of our opposition there wasn't enough optimism or arrogance to mock. Nonetheless, I took a trip to KUMB (Knees Up Mother Brown) to check in on our East London friends.

    PRE MATCH:

    A comfortable win.
Literally the only post I could see who predicted a West Ham win. Admire the optimism pal, you hang in there <rofl>

Can see us getting a hard-fought, and much-needed, draw. I think people fearing Kane may be misguided.
    Yep, kAnE iS ****!

I fear how we will handle the pace/physicality of the likes of Son, Sissoko and Bergwijn.

Big up Big Mouss getting recognised for having pace and physicality.

    0 - 0 I reckon.
Both teams are playing poorly and Kane looked like he had just got out of the hospital bed against man U.

Kane could have no legs and probably still score against your lot.

Hate to point it out, but a 3 goal defeat would send us into the bottom three (at least until Bournemouth play again).
**** YOU SPURS ONLY WINNING 2-0!!!

That Spurs back 4 is poor
    Munched up your attack though.

Looks like Ngakia is gone then.
I don't know anything about the guy but hope we sign him for the bants.

    First Half:

Honestly, literally nothing other than "Noble is finished", "Noble's forgot he's playing for West Ham" and "Noble's lost the ball again". Oh, and a "let off" after VAR ruling out Sonny's goal. They really were ripping Noble a new one though, so much for respecting a club legend.

    Second Half:

    Soucek's only contribution...
    A great one at that.

Joke of an own goal by a joke of a team
Yous do actually provide the nation with a good laugh.

Wilshere must be bad if lanzini gets on before him
Oh you have no idea, mate.

Well Antonio snoozes and Kane bruises what a ****
<laugh> I genuinely Lol'd at that, great poetry.

Antonio wouldn't look out of place in a Sunday League team
You lot ain't far off tbh.

We seem to have re employed Mido, but he's wearing a mask and calling himself Anderson.
(Mido was terrible and overweight IIRC when he played for them).

    This is depressing as always.
    Not for us!

    Post Match:

I've just watched the ****test Spurs performance in years, and they beat us.
You've clearly not seen many of our performances this season then...

    Eric Dier post-match:
'West Ham were well organised but we felt they would tire. We know what to expect, they would come here and sit back and counter attack.'
So predictable even this twat can get it.

Wash your mouth out, don't disrespect Dier you ****head!

How gone is Rice this summer?
    I'm thinking gone, gone.

When Stoke were relegated, being the side I really disliked, I wished them a long and miserable stay in the Championship or, ideally, further relegation. Well, it looks like payback time.
Karma, bruh, karma. (**** Stoke though).

You know it's bad, when the Spurs fans you know are pitying you, rather than taking the p*ss.
I was actually like this last night, I didn't even bother messaging any of my West Ham mates out of pity <laugh>

    Added bonus of Anti-Moyes posts:

Come back glen Roeder all is forgiven
    <laugh>

    Was Avram even this bad?
    <laugh>

I absolutely hated Allardyce, but at least he kind of did boring well. Moyes does boring very very badly
Moyes at the bottom of the boring scale, rough.

Nah, it just exposes Moyes as a proper dense ****
<laugh> With regards to Moyes using just two subs.

I went on there last night (I don't sleep well usually and especially so in this heat) and there was a post suggesting that Moyes had written off the games against Wolves, us and Chelsea as warm up fixtures and was using them to get players fit for their remaining games against Newcastle, Burnley, Norwich, Watford, and Villa...

    That's a massive gamble if it's true...
