Also the worst atmosphere I have ever experienced for a league game! Only other atmosphere in any football that was worse was Craven Cottage in the FA Cup 3rd round - not joking there was not 1 single chant or song - the only noise we actually heard was an ohhh from a close shot. Shameful!
Even if I had the money, I wouldnt waste it going there... although I’m absolutely fuming at another way Boris Johnson has absolutely fleeced the tax payers of this country with that stadium and how it went to Wet Spam.... it will be a noose around the clubs neck for many many years to come until they’re actually willing to put their hands in their pockets and spend out on some serious infrastructure there rather than on players that don’t deserve their salaries.
Hardly a noose around their necks, West Ham don’t contribute towards the running costs of the stadium, which the owners E20 are losing around £20 million a year from. Every time the stadium’s use is changed from football to athletics, baseball, or whatever, and back again, it costs around £6 million. West Ham pay an index-linked rent, currently around £3 million a year, which is probably about the same as they pay Mark Noble to be an average player. But you’re right, the tax payers were royally screwed over that deal.
You’re totally right.... think I didn’t really make it clear that I meant that what the stadium does to the atmosphere and the effect it has on the fans, it’s such a toxic environment for the fans and that is something that only Wet Spam paying for structural changes to the place will improve will change-not something that they will do under current ownership. I know a few Hammers fans and they are passionate about the club but apoplectic about the way they are run.
Not wishing to make any kind of political point, but the question of the £12,500 donation to the Conservative Party by Gold, Sullivan, and Brady just before they took possession of the stadium in 2016 hasn’t been fully explained.
Unbelievable Jeff.... how dare you make a perfectly valid political point.... your right.... the venue is more the politics thread... but think it’s still pertinent to football fans in general who may not know the level to which football fans and taxpayers are being fleeced in the name of another football club. Being an ex PE teacher, the 2012 London Games was won on the idea of sustainability and legacy.... between the credit crunch and Boris, the stadiums legacy has well and truly been tarnished for good.
Two more Saints legends are following Morgan out of the Everton door this summer. Stekelenberg and Cuco Martina being let go.
Both signings were very Saints... had the ability to scare the hell out of the fans but as we saw with Martina... had the rarest glimpse of looking very capable... even if it was for the faintest of seconds...
So which game has everyone chosen - 4 games simultaneously this evening! I've gone for Wolves v Bounrmeouth
Battle of the United’s.... want Bournemouth to win but think they’ll get savaged by Wolves.... would rather eat my own testicles than watch Everton.... villa game looks a bit dull....
I've no interest in Man Utd-Sheff Utd, but I was tempted by all three of the others. I've gone with Norwich so far...and the only reason why I've haven't already given up and turned to one of the other two is that they're both goalless too!
