5:55 Windsor - Bashiba 20/1 Ew. The outsider of the bunch in this but stands out to me as a cracking ew bet. Definitely has the ability to take a race like this if on a going day. Should be fit from a run out last week. Wide open looking race where a chance could be given to them all but at the same time questions could be asked of each of them too. Hopefully more than 7 runners go to post (currently 9) so we get the 3 places but 20s looks too tempting to ignore.
1:40 Haydock - Blue De Vega 10/1 Win. Once more to the well with this one. Horse bloody owes me so more of a fingers crossed that it repays me than a massively confident pick.
Morning all, 1.40 Haydock, ORVAR 5/1. Ran an encouraging race last time up at Donny in a class 2 event. Not hard ridden and stayed on well including running into others to finish 3rd. He has a potential front runner in the stall next to him and today he drops into a class 3 race where he has a very good record where in 9 races he has only been outside the places on two occasions and winning 3 times. Also has James Doyle in the saddle which is an eyecatching booking as I believe he does not ride very often for this yard. Finally this will be his second run back from wind surgery. Took the 5/1 last night but now down to 7/2
One more for me and another that falls into the 'speculative' category. 2:30 Naas - Daayeb 16/1 Ew. I'm basing this just on the assumption that it surely has to be a better horse than it showed on debut and with any improvement could nick a place at a decent price.
Is Chelsea kicking about? I see Lothian is out again this evening, his info is usually pretty solid from this yard. Bit of a drift out to a backable 2/1 so wonder if he's had any word?
Morning, you types. Right settle down, no silliness. Give me a brief briefing re life on the old Daily Thread’ circa June 2020. Are you sinners still picking the winners??? Are the moles / contacts / informants (delete as appropriate) still prevalent or have they been furloughed??? Are the membership still all of the same opinion Lieutenant Henderson??? Has anyone already had a major punt re Cheltenham 2021??? Has the oft mentioned clique admitted any new members or has there been any ‘blackballing’??? Am out of the loup somewhat so come on, people, chop-chop bring me up to speed.
All I can say Sir Barney is that the tipping has been excellent of late. And the write-ups comprehensive. And I have been responsible for neither.
Cor blimey he’s not still hanging around doing his ‘thang’ is he?!? I thought it was proved beyond all reasonable doubt, way back last summer or even earlier, that Chelsea was just an alias of an existing member. A very decent member as well so why he needs this ‘extension’ to his personae, spouting this ‘I’ve been told…’ drivel, I’ve never really worked out.
hahaha, you were given the yard info well in advance for Windsor on Monday.....did you not believe???? Cannot believe you want telling to back a 5/4 shot!
Long-time members who know me are aware of my liking for Harness Racing as I have lived in mainland Europe for many years. Sadly, in the south it is but a shadow of what it was in the '70s and '80s when I was a regular at the Daglfing track. So, my bet today will be in the 13:25 at Vichy, Elan De Dompierre, who ran quite well LTO (6th) on June 2nd against the hot favourite Evita Peron. Heck, can't be any worse than yesterday's effort at Beverley where my fancy ran out of gas with just a furlong or so to go! Best of luck everyone! Edit: 5th, but not a bad run. Will persevere one more time, probably!
In all seriousness, Lothian was 6/5 last evening and is now out to 7/2. I know the one on Monday drifted but this is a totally different kettle of fish as it is a syndicate horse so if they fancied it the world and his mother would be getting the world. The horse that beat it on debut was last at Ascot last week and the third has turned in an absolute howler. I think the horse that came sixth has won since but it looks like they found a weak race on the AW for its debut.
You've been on here long enough to know Ron that personal opinion counts as fact these days. We had two threads closed full of these 'facts'.
