Should Lee be in charge next season?

After reading some of the comments on various media sites I beg to ask the question as to whether Lee should be allowed to stay in his job for next season? So many promises hit the streets when he was hired and the same unfulfilled promises haven't been met at any time during his tenure. Frankly I am sick and tired of hearing the same promises, and the follow up excuses, and I'm sure many others feel the same way. Being a football manager is generally deemed to be a danger filled job and unless you have reached sometimes unattainable targets you are destined to land with a bang.

In our situation we have a manager (coach) who has been supported beyond belief by our owner and the return on investment must be very low, and it makes me ask how long will this scenario be allowed to continue? Every season we start off with the usual hypotheses of how well we will do in the upcoming campaign only to see the same somewhat dismal performances followed quickly by the excuses as to why we haven't yet met the criteria needed to move the team forward.

Someone famous once said that you can't continue doing the same thing and expect different results. If the powers that be are satisfied with the results, and excuses, then by all means keep going down the same road with the same driver but if you sincerely want be better then perhaps a change of scenery is needed to fill the bill. Sadly I just cannot see that happening and this time next season we will probably be asking the same questions, unless the unfathomable happens.

Never deserved the job 4 years ago.
However we are where we are and Tbf you have to give LJ this season and take it from there. I can't ever see SL sacking LJ whatever happens so we're all probably wasting time commenting.
If we don't make the play offs (I heard a whisper 2 weeks ago) would give the job to Mark Robins.
Imagine LJ, or anyone else Tbf, with no money playing the entire season away from Coventry.

It's a yes, but then you'd have guessed that answer from me.........of course unless a proven manager was available at our budget came along...I'm sure SL would look at his options.....what I wouldn't want, is LJ sacked without a replacement and we do the usual and go for the cheap panic option.......like we always do..

The fact that people are even considering a City manager getting the chop because we can't quite make the play-offs to the Premiership for the 3 years on the bounce, is PROGRESS!!

FFS, how many years of dross and awful 3rd tier mid-table finishes (at best sometimes) have we had to endure in the past 40 years.

Yes, of course, it's disappointing we can't seem to make that next step forward, but it's better than trying to make the next step from the bottom of this league or the one below...

For me he has gone as far as he can.
    Run out of ideas.

Yes I think he was at the time and definitely a gamble RP, but we are lucky that he became decent.<laugh>...most are panic appointments that normally doesn't improve us.....
Personally I would give him another season whatever happens this season.....but would need to get us a top 5 finish next season or we look replace with someone a bit more experienced at this level than Mark Robins ........

I think RR is right - he’s taken us as far as he can - which by Bristol City standards is pretty good (top half championship).
If we want to make that final push for the Prem then Lee is unlikely to deliver it. Having said that we still are very much in with a shout, but if we fail to make the playoffs this season I think SL has a decision to make: do we keep LJ and be content with virtually assured top-half Championship football (and a divided fan-base), or go 5hit or bust in a gamble which could see us finally promoted - or relegated back to League 1.
I say 5hit or bust, because we all know that if LJ goes, his replacement would NOT be a big name proven manager. It would be another unknown, cutting his teeth, or a mediocre ‘meh’ appointment.

Not sure R&W about a cheap option. He may reflect on appointing Pat Lam and the success subsequently enjoyed by the Bears.

Should Lee be in charge next season ? In my opinion no, but we all know that he will be, so frankly it's academic.

Lansdown seems quite happy to indulge him, and that's all he needs for job security.

Not sure I totally agree Angelic.
It depends if SL really wants the Premiership or not.
For me, the novelty of being a solid Championship club hasn’t quite worn off yet, but if SL keeps on missing out on his dream then he will have to do something. If however it’s just talk and he’s happy with the status quo then he’ll do nothing and LJ will stay, but even if this happens, LJ won’t stay forever - nobody does - and I doubt that his tenure is as comfortable or secure as some may think. He will have ‘targets’ to achieve like most employees and if he doesn’t meet them there will be consequences.
I agree I can’t see him going anywhere soon though - it will take an absolute collapse to get him the sack and even if we lose all our remaining games I can’t see us getting relegated - I don’t even know if it’s mathematically possible, so he’s safe for now.

Indeed he is bcfcredandwhite, safe as houses for at least this season and the next. But on the other hand, no other club is likely to come in and steal our Manager away either unless it's from below the Championship.

It will all depend on whether Lansdown has set LJ targets or objectives I guess. If he's got any sense he will have.

We may have missed our chance if we get rid of LJ this summer. Can see the club having to tighten up on spending due to Covid and a big drop in player valuations. A new manager is unlikely to get the luxury LJ has had to splash on players - most of whom are apparently untrustworthy.

We should have got rid of him at least a year ago as we're going nowhere with him in charge.
