On Thursday I stood up and gave a very clear message to the Government: we are done with the games, we are done with the platitudes and we are done with the ministers kicking the problem of structural and systematic racism into the long grass. That is why I forced a sobering House of Commons debate to acknowledge the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on Black African Caribbean, Asian and minority ethnic people. I am tired of inaction while people are dying. Following Public Health England’s (PHE) review into Covid-19 disparities, we have yet more evidence of the crisis of health inequalities in this country. It confirmed the risk of dying among those diagnosed with Covid-19 is higher in BAME groups than white ethnic groups.

I wonder if there will be any reaction from the BAME if it is found that the high numbers of Covid-related deaths are genetic. I expect the likes of Dawn Bulter will say all the scientists and researchers are racist with a white-biased agenda and institutional racism means only white people get to work in the medical research industry.

There will be claims for compensation as the NHS haven't done enough to protect BAME front-line staff from getting sick, NHS managers should have sent everyone black, Pakistani or Indian home to isolate and left all those Covid-immune honkies at work.
