In 2019 they received £12.4m from the sale of players and £4.7m in 2018. That easily covers the dividend payments. Again, there's nothing to show that interest has actually been paid. I expect it would be paid, as I said earlier, but I also know that the accounts dont prove it.
I believe, they believe they are simply being justly rewarded for their wholehearted goodness towards humanity in general and Hullensians in particular. After all neither Ehab nor the great and good Doctor himself have taken a penny in salary from HULL CITY TIGERS. Others may have a different point of view of course.
I don;t know what they believe, I don't even know if they know themselves what they believe in. I think they have changed their strategy several times over the last decade, and maybe sometimes it's the old man with his hands on the wheel, and sometimes it's the lad. One thing for sure, they know their way round a balance sheet and how to manipulate revenue streams to their advantage. Martin Fish was allegedly an accountant, but selling railway nameplates was his limit. One thing Fish and the Allams have in common, is their inability to generate enthusiasm or communicate with fans to create a shared vision for the club other than presenting a balance sheet every 31st March. I'd hoped that City might come out of Covid in a better state than most clubs who have borrowed like ****s. I still cling to that hope.
Just like our owners' core business has profited significantly from other forms of global disaster. A sinister perspective indeed. Even cynical ?
This will eventually be key I think but not for another 18-24 months. Clubs will borrow more to get themselves out the mess. Those who win promotion or get cash windfalls will benefit and get through it but those that don't will hit very hard times.
If we get relegated, the borrowing against the club will commence... that and the sales Lopez, Jordy perhaps £6 million collectively might offset some costs next season... I would have added George Long but in the last 12 games his value has nosedived...
Hang on.. Didnt Ehab say the Bowen money is to cover the next few seasons? Surely we dont need to sell even more players just to keep our heads above the water.
The Bowen money will help to pay not only the players wages but those of the many staff behind the scenes for the next three years as and when the money comes in. Doubt if a penny of it will be left to buy players with. Without that we would have sunk without trace.
Theres absolutely no chance of anybody taking over the club unless they pick it up for next to nothing . What actually is it worth in it's current guise and what players have that much worth in the current situation. No crowds and hardly an tv money after this season.
They can put the interest on the balance sheet as an accrual but pay tax on it when its actually paid or moved to the directors loan account
I think the difference in League revenue between elf and League one is over £5 million.... thats whats at stake.... but no one at the club seems to get it...
What was the recent (certainly this year) financial league table where we were in 5th in the country? Was it highest profit? I'm sure it'll be on this board somewhere, but I was surprised there wasn't a lot more discussion about it, considering our free fall since Bowen and Kamil' s departure.
Two former City managers (Bruce & Paerson) who couldn't work with the Allams, now doing fine in the PL. #Sheffieldbubbleburst
