She is doing very well. Thanks. We have a new normal in the new normal, it’s a bit weird when we look back we would never have expected to be where we are now. The next step is a full scan to see if the cancer is anywhere else and then we might start again.
It's great that this thread helps. It must have been a horrible lockdown period for you Newbald. Hope some things are getting slightly easier as it eases (support networks etc)? Though I guess you're just focussed on getting on with the treatment. Stay strong and you've got a whole board rooting for you now. Oh and absolutely agree with your sentiments re Queens.
Just had a letter from the consultant and looks like my lockdown period could last until September which is a bit of a blow or Covid goes away! Thanks for the wishes guys it does help, it really does.
Oh I see it now Newland not Newbald, someone slipped up and NewlandTiger is wondering what is going on.
Are shielding letters being sent to each individual rather than the government giving blanket advice in their press conference?
Don’t know this is the consultant keeping me locked down as I have no immune system at all and he is very aware of any virus infection even a cold
Yes they are. When I'm not sure but everyone who was advised to shield should be getting another letter telling them what to do next and when
i got a personal phone-call last week to see how I was doing. I told her I wanted to go back to work. She asked what had been put in place to minimise risk. She said to try it but review it weekly & she’d call again. If I had a suppressed immuno system I wouldn’t be considering leaving the house this side of September at the very earliest.
My son in law is in the same position as you at the moment Newbald. He's had 2 courses of 3 day Chemo at the Beatson Glasgow and goes again this Thursday. When he's home my Daughter injects him with some sort of booster. He has to shield, like you,and my Daughter and the little un stay at home too.You stay safe and take care but most of all you beat this!!!
Hope all goes well for him and family and he kicks this into touch, luckily my Chemo is by tablets at present as is all my treatments due to corona virus and them not wanting me and others in hospital yet but my turn will come no doubt.
He's doing really well.He had testicular cancer which had spread to his lymph nodes, had the testicle removed at the Nuffield and 2 weeks later he was getting chemo in the beatson.Apart from the loss of his hair,he hasn't been affected by the chemo at all.The main danger is coronavirus, flu etc due to his immune system. Are the tablets of a similar strength to infusions and are you suffering any side effects? I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best from the bottom of my heart, take care and keep us all posted.
Side effects seem to be mainly sleeping but as well as chemo tablets I am on steroids so ballooned in stomach and ankles, and with the mix of other tablets breathing is laboured as well. Glad he is doing ok though and long May it continue.
Chin up mate...I hope you are getting all the support you need from family, friends and all concerned with this forum.
Just peeking in, TOM, (it's a while since I gave you that monica, Omega Man ). Sorry to hear of your trials. I hope everything sorts itself; I'm sure it will. But good luck and best wishes anyway, positive thoughts
A scan on Sunday and then the consultant on Thursday will see if they got it and what happens next. Thanks, I hope all is well with you and yours.
