Fair play to Alpine Star, good performance, the right horses have finished 2nd and 3rd, have to say she is the top mile filly now. Shame Petite Mustique got injured as she gave her a good run for her money last season.
The way Aiden's are running I am tempted to cash out rather than let Ryan Moore and Wichita blow the bet out of the water.
Massive step up in grade for PALACE PIER here. I hope he is up to it but it really does look a massive hike.
ascot,3 00: well,id rather go e w with a horse like THREAT,than chancing the likes of pinatubo, after such a fast turnaround.my horse did very much right at the highest level last season, and if ready, can go well today.
Couple of £ here on Threat for the hell of it. And hoping Wichita can confirm placings with Pinatubo.
I have a 20/1 double (skybet) Palace Pier to win and Air RAID to finish in the first six! Fingers crossed x
Siskin has no chance against that beast, when horses can take a step up from a Newcastle handicap to winning a Group 1, it marks them out as a bit special, he will have learned plenty from that and I wouldnt be opposing him over a mile this season, this looks like Kingmans best so far, some engine. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Frankie is having one of those days and I dont care if it wins half the track, you need sanctions from the Zulu council if you are backing Sceptical at the prices. The opposition isnt great but hes in a similar situation to Palace Pier, the only difference is hes trained by Denis Hogan, not John Gosden. And hes priced up like hes already been there and done it. Beat Buffer Zone 4L and 2/1 for a G1. Hello Youmzain for me.
I liked Alpine Star last season and she was originally meant to be running in the Irish 1000 Guineas (3/1 at one stage ante post) but in the end they relied solely on Albigna, whom Shane Foley had said wintered best of Harrington's fillies. Albigna was a huge disappointment and connections reckoned the fast ground was her undoing. I decided not to play in the race today, as I felt the Newmarket fillies brought moderate form after being slaughtered by Love and everything I have backed of Harrington's this last while has stunk the place out. Alpine Star has splatted the same fillies in similar style today and that was not a good look for Love in the Oaks at short odds. I can't say I am a fan of young Richard Hannon and he's getting pretty lean pickings at the top of the game in general. My worry with Quadrilateral all along for me was Roger Chartlon's poor record in the early Classics. His supporters always counter that if he has one good enough, he will have it ready. This year, even with an extra month to prepare, it hasn't happened once again for Charlton. I suppose stepping Quadrilateral up in trip is the only option now and she had seemed outpaced in the Fillies Mile before striking late last year.
Alpine Star will be rated higher than Kameko after that, at least 120 she will need be given. Going into the Oaks Love still has by far the best form and the mile was the bare minimum for her, wouldnt be interested at 6/4 but still confident shes the one to beat. Frankly Darling could only be rated around 110 for Ascot so still a bit to find, she was impressive though and is a bigger threat than I anticipated.
Touchdown, I backed Palace Pier ante-post at 6/1 for today. I always felt he was Gosden's best 2YO and had him at 20/1 for the 2000 Guineas as my main ante-post bet. it never panned out for him but he beat the right horses today to suggest he might have won it with a clear run to the race. Something about his debut win struck me as being special and although he beat nothing next time it was easy and the same at Newcastle last time. The runner up in that handicap bombed out yesterday but he was beaten 99 lengths and 65 lengths off the next horse, so he was all wrong for whatever reason. Pinatubo has run well and Wichita likewise but Pinatubo just needs taking back from his 126 rating further, as it is clear he either never was 128 or has receded more from it than the 2 lbs he has dropped so far. Hail the Pier, I knew you had it in you son.
ascot,3 35: DIAMOND JUBILEE STAKES HELLO YOUMZAIN was one of the most impressive winners in the sprinting scene last year, lifting the group 1 haydock cup with a spectacular speed display, and, opposed to some others here,is still qiuite unexposed.so,if all is well today, big shout.
