I meant I didn’t understand your point, I wasn’t necessarily disagreeing with you.

Don’t disagree at all, HR. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans .... all the ancient races held slaves. Mohammed had slaves .... it was, until slavery was finally abolished, not unusual at all - and, I agree, a horrendous time for the slaves (or serfs in England for example). We cannot I do that, but we can try to sort out racism which, unfortunately, appears to be on the increase through things like Brexit and rampant nationalism. To be honest though, in the southern part of the US it’s never gone away, sadly. I am white, but I’ve been racially abused by Scotsmen when there (for being English), Afrikaners in South Africa (for being English), Aussies .... etc etc .... and not in a “let’s have a bit of fun and then buy him a beer” sort of way - I have been intimidated and threatened ... so it’s all over and I’ll never get it - in the same way as I don’t get the fact that supporting a different football club might get you beaten up or killed. There are some nasty people out there, many of them are racist and we, as humans, need to get through to the majority that ignoring racial jibes or chants is as bad as admitting to being racist. If we can’t do that then we’re going to struggle with extremism on all sides and it will only get worse.
There are bigger issues in this world which are being ignored because of this and if we don’t address those we’re all ****ed no matter what colour, race, religion, gender .... we are. Sadly, money still rules and it’s to the benefit of the few that they keep us going on about this sort of thing whilst they rape the planet of its resources and subjugate most of the people.
History needs to be taught complete (I learned about the concentration camps set up by the British in the boer war at school when I was 14 - so why isn’t that taught now?) with all the good and bad explained. In the end, though, we’re all the same inside and it’s only our mindsets which makes us different

It is Johnson's birthday today. He was told he could have the day off. He wasn't impressed and said "But I always have Friday off, and every other day except Wednesday when I work for a few hours in the morning and occasionally blather away at the press conference in the afternoon if needed".

He needn't worry about the press conferences anymore as a new government spokesperson has been appointed. A press release from Downing street said "The public will like our new spokesperson. He is a character with great integrity and the public will find him more honest than any of the current Cabinet".

Somewhat incredibly, a Labour campaign group has been polling former Labour voters who switched to the Tories in December 2019, and found that “getting Brexit done” was NOT the main reason. It was, in fact, Johnson’s pledge to recruit 50,000 more nurses, which 68% said they were swayed by, as opposed to only 29% who quoted Brexit.

    I do find that incredible.
Could be that more than a few people would rather be thought of as daft, for believing Johnson’s lies about the nurses, rather than his lies about Brexit.

:emoticon-0148-yes: My thoughts too. Matches the Zeitgeist
We voted for a twat to support the NHS :emoticon-0152-heart
Association with Brexit might seem a bit anti BLM

I’m sure they believe what they say, we humans can be very good at fooling ourselves

(That’s one of my favourite Germanic words I’ve got in today, all I need now is an excuse to get Schadenfreude in)

    Any Norwich fans in? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

It's OK everyone, politics can take a metaphorical back seat - we won!!
Just reply to one of Schad's posts, and call him by his 'Sunday' name - "Schadenfreude, WHAT have you been doing?"

Comedian Milton Jones has a joke including the word schadenfeude, something like.

“My grandad used to laugh at me, because I couldn’t spell schadenfreude, but he’s dead now and I’m not”

I think it is grossly unfair the Rashford should have to turn out for Manchester United and run the ****ing country as well. I thought there was a bloke paid to do that but I can't remember who it is.
