I see the BBC is quick to put their biased slant on things https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53068494 The Premier League, Fifa, Uefa, La Liga and the Bundesliga have all tried to bring about proceedings in Saudi courts, but have been blocked by the country's government. The case was brought to the WTO's attention by Qatar, which is engaged in a long-running diplomatic row with Saudi Arabia. BeIN Sport chief executive Yousef al-Obaidly has previously written to the chairs of Premier League clubs warning them against the Newcastle takeover. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ which is their main gripe
and grouting su I don't see why.... I think what the case has been was he very opposite of my fears.. They waited for the report to go public so that the complainants , media and the arseholes could see that there's no link
And the Guardian as well but more neutral the Echo. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18521027.wto-report-raises-hopes-newcastle-united-takeover/
Right another meeting but sneaked on here again. So update is people are sticking their noses in when they shouldn’t. Premier league have nothing to stop the takeover so what now. We wait? What for and for how long?
Still think we might get a nice pre match surprise announcement on Sunday Chaos - that's this coming Sunday, Sunday 21st June 2020 (also Father's Day) for the avoidance of doubt ...
statement from the Saudi Government A World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute panel released its report Tuesday ruling against Qatar, and finding that Saudi Arabia’s national security defence was justified under WTO rules. The WTO panel acknowledged that Saudi Arabia “seeks to protect Saudi citizens and the Saudi population, Saudi government institutions, and the territory of Saudi Arabia from the threats of terrorism and extremism” raised by Qatar in the region. The panel also found that Saudi Arabia's comprehensive actions were “taken in time of… other emergency in international relations,” based on extensive evidence presented to the WTO tribunal by Saudi Arabia regarding Qatar's violations of regional agreements and commitments to renounce support for violence and unrest in the region. Saudi Arabia also confirmed to the panel that it provides strong protection of intellectual property rights, including criminal procedures and penalties in cases where credible evidence is available to the Government to support the initiation of proceedings. In addition to accepting Saudi Arabia’s national security defence, the panel rejected Qatar’s remaining claims that Saudi law violated WTO rules, and rejected claims that the Saudi government supported the alleged copyright piracy. Out of six claims by Qatar, the panel’s single finding regarding criminal proceedings was rendered moot in the course of the WTO dispute.
I reckon we should take the risk and lose to Sheffield United then MBS makes a big deal congratulating them.
If true, then the last paragraph is the most relevant. Rejection of alleged copyright piracy. Now let’s see how the PL find any reason to reject application now. Hopefully has been a case of wait for report to be issued. Give time to examine (others not them). Give approval. #cans
To me that all reads as #cans Piracy was the issue, PIF not even mentioned and infact have been noted as a legally seperate entity so there is nothing to support blocking the deal in that report. Qatar and the rest will have to try and find something new to get this blocked and sharpish - don't be surprised t osee some new evidence in regards to Khassoghi's murder come out in the next few days directly implying the Prince was involved. Expect this to all start moving a bit faster now...
