Strange that people don't go out to the shopping malls on Sundays, but I suppose that is because they are shut.
please log in to view this image This is a picture of people clearing up after an illegal rave in Manchester on Saturday night. At that event one man was dead of a suspected drugs overdose, one woman reporting a rape, and three separate reported stabbings. There are reports that police forces across England have been struggling to keep up with an explosion of illicit parties in motorway underpasses, parks and industrial estates since Johnson relaxed lockdown restrictions last month. This is sad, as these sort of images and comments flash across the world in a flash with the internet. This is the image of England being projected across the world. The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester has said that his force could not intervene. Why? Maybe the PM should get a grip.
Not true, in some large cities they are open on Sundays. Some French supermarkets stay open longer on a Sunday than the UK equivalent.
I cannot believe many people would be anything other thank shocked abd disappointed by the behaviour of those young people.. In the tv news tonight it showed people scuffing to get into London stores... I think the mixed messages from govt have made people think they can do what they want...
No idea what the situation is in the UK or France, but the only place you could find a supermarket open in Germany on a Sunday is in some central railway stations, nowhere else. The German weekend is very much more safe guarded than in the UK. Also many shops here close from midday on the Saturday - and family life is all the better for it !
Shopping malls and supermarkets are open on Sundays in many areas. I expect many more will follow. I'm surprised Frenchie doesn't know what is going on in France, is his village cut off?
You are out of touch totally. Supermarkets are allowed to open on a Sunday morning to sell bread, but sell anything else in the three or four hours that the doors are open. All of the the other shops are closed in a mall and are not allowed to open. The only exceptions are in areas that are designated as tourist areas. There have been complaints that some employees would like to work at double time, but the law prevented it. One of the largest DIY chaines tried to say that as they were on the outskirts of Paris they should be allowed to open. They opened for three weeks before they were shut down. I have been in many large cities in France and have found that even the largest supermarkets do not open on a Sunday at all. As I live here, read the papers, see the news on TV, and can make considered judgements, I do not understand why you wish to make silly statements unless it is to cover up the failings of your government.
Many shops here are closed on a Sunday and Monday and during the rest of the week close for a couple of hours midday for dinner. All very sociable, but not always great if you do not remember what day of the week it is, or what the time is. The further south you go the longer the lunch break is likely to be.
Sorry you are wrong again, many French malls are open on Sundays from 8 am till 8pm in the evening. Both the supermarkets and retails shops are open. Your information is well out of date.
Why are scientists not at daily briefings? Raab says they’ll continue to attend but “judgement calls" have to be taken by politicians. Signal ministers might not take the scientific advice (but bit of hand break turn when throughout PM been “led” by the science). How many time have we been told on here that the government is following the science?
So you now admit there are scores of shopping malls open on Sundays all around France after all. Duh... You really need to check your facts before posting erroneous information. look them up, many are open for 10 hours on a Sunday, longer than in the UK.
Not the case in Limoges or my local towns.. You might get a supermarket in the morning.. And for all the 18 years I have lived there.. Cora hypermarket in Limoges firmly closed on s Sunday I don't know what petty point you are trying to prove but suggest you like me find something better to do ...
I specifically said that some shops in tourist areas situated in shopping malls could open on a Sunday. I even mentioned how a DIY chain tried to take advantage of the regulations, but was closed down. SH however with his knowledge of the country said that, " French malls are open on Sundays from 8 am till 8pm in the evening. Both the supermarkets and retails shops are open." Asked to provide examples he couldn't despite having access to the internet. I think we can assume that SH doesn't know what he is talking about.
Yes, but I would have thought that first hand knowledge has priority over what you read in the comics you read. Will you start to tell me about life in Germany next ?
There are many supermarkets open on a Sunday in that area. No, you originally said shopping malls are closed on a Sunday in France. We have now established that is incorrect. After conceding that you then said they are only open in the morning, again that is incorrect. I'll try to make it easy for you. Look up supermarkets in Paris trading on a Sunday, you will find that most are open all day. You really should have more understanding of what is going on in France.
Where is this debate heading You really are making an idiot of yourself SH in prolonging such a futile point - I personally don't know the opening hours in France and would not shame myself by presuming to do so against somebody who lives there, based only on something I have read. I do know something about the supermarket opening hours in the UK however, and they are ridiculously long and mean that the weekend, and family life, are effectively dead for anyone who has to work there.
