Very mixed bag at Ascot and I played mainly on the 2YO races and some selected others ante-post.

    In no particular order:-

Coventry Stakes Admiral Nelson 8/1 and Lipizzaner 8/1 (Latter goes for the Norfolk now)
    Albany Stakes More Beautiful 9/2
    Windsor Castle Mighty Gurkha 11/1
St James Palace Palace Pier 6/1
    Jersey Stakes King Leonidas 9/2
    Commonwealth Cup Wooded 12/1
    Queen Anne Terrebellum 7/2
    Diamond Jubilee Sceptical 3/1

I have never found it a good idea playing the Handicap Races at Royal Ascot. Obviously I am hoping Gosden has a good meeting :emoticon-0110-tongu

I was looking at Mustashry but Crowley deserts him for Mohaather so that has got me onto Circus Maximus who should be in the shake up at the least.
Frankly Darling and Bataash for a jollies treble.

    13:15 Ascot

22 races have been run over 7 furlongs at Ascot with fields of 24 or over since 2015, with 7 of those being won by horses drawn 19 or higher.

In the last five runnings of this race (2010,11,12,13,14) the stalls for places 1 to 4 are

    27,3,31,23
    29,28,2,23
    11,23,32,25
    32,30,24,15
    29,21,25,30

So in 20 horses, only 3 were drawn in the lower half of the draw. As such, and whilst we have a slightly smaller field, tomorrow I think we have to consider backing stalls rather than horses with form in the book.

So I have backed the top 8 in the draws in combination forecasts. The pace analysis also suggests that those drawn high are likely to be having a better early pace, and all points to a very strong start for those drawn high. I am hoping that the outsiders battle it out and the favourite finishes in behind!

    The question is

How many of the four favourites will Ryan moore get beat or beaten on for those that follow him.

4:40 - Will be going with Ian Williams two against the field, Mancini and Blue Laureate, both 16/1. I like Williams with these stayers, he seems to do well with them. He won this race last year and also had the 3rd, he's worth keeping on side in these stayers races. Two good jockey bookings as well, Buick and Fallon, both started back really well, particularly Buick. Moon King only just held off Blue Laureate the other day, unlucky not to get up yet Blue Laureate is double the odds.

Not particularly my favourite race of the week, have seen myself not even backing anything in it in recent years, but can't leave this Williams pair. Done singles and reverse forecast.

Morning all... Ascot Day 1 selections

1:15 - Keyser Soze, Glen Sheil
    1:50 - Terebellum, Billesdon Brook
    2:25 - Frankly Darling
    3:00 - Mohican Heights
3:35 - Liberty Beach, Glass Slippers
    4:10 - Lavenders Blue
4:40 - Verdana Bluse, Dubawi Fifty

As im still furloughed off from work i've actually put some thought into my picks this year, so none of em will score today :emoticon-0127-lipss :emoticon-0136-giggl :emoticon-0145-shake

Also i don't really get over excited about this festival i just find it a bit of a complete minefield and can't be bothered usually with the summer flat racing, so its made a change for me to take a bit of a longer look. Who knows, i may just break even for the week, or crash and burn like i usually do...:emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The Queen Anne Stakes is very competitive but in this game, I think it pays to keep it simple. And Circus Maximus simply has the best mile form in the book. At 3/1 though, I’m only backing him because Betfair Exchange are offering a £20 free bet for anyone betting on this race.

Sometimes just going with things like names or even silk colours (which seems a favourite for some women) works but sometimes studying form pays off. You never know..they aren't machines..:emoticon-0100-smile

Good luck with those. I fancied Hey Jonesy in the first but have resisted the urge. 4 bets is enough for me..
