Hi Guys, It was my birthday on Saturday, it hurts to say, but I have turned a significant milestone in my life, can't bring myself to say the age, but we beat Chelsea a few years back with Gary Bannister scoring a hattrick 6-0! It's fair to say, the lead up to this weekend has not been easy. I was just not looking forward to the celebrations. After all, I could still get a call up for the hoops, the teenager in me says! Anyway I didn't come on here asking for congratulations but I wanted to share something with you that tickled me and made me think of all of you. My other half asked lots of my/our friends to write a letter about me with a photo and made an album for me. Within the letters here is a paragraph of what Willem said. The one thing you need to know, he hasn't got a clue about football he is not interested in it and has never been to game, in fact, I don't think he has even watched a game on T.V. But I must have made an impression in the conversations we've had. Willem's view: - Wistfully reviewing his club's fortunes, he wonders how it could get this far. Poor management? Crap players? Bad luck? Having thrown in his lot with this mysterious acronym, Peter stairs out across the field. You know what? I bet Peter loves being a QPR supporter. Nothing like backing the underdog. And like any good pastime, it offers an enchanting mix of attraction, bafflement and melancholy. This isn't just football. No, 'the ballad of QPR' is far headier stuff. It sings of the human condition itself. A worthy pastime for any true gentleman.
Happy Birthday, Flanners. When I turned Hawaii 5-0 a few years back, my best mate simply wrote: C U N T in my card... ...but, in fairness, he knows me the best, so...
Happy Birthday mate. I’ve just turn 59 two weeks ago and although it’s just a number, l have a distinct feeling of wanting to retire which l never really had before. Have a great week and get someone local to buy you a drink on my behalf. Cheers, Aussie
Congraulations Flanman... I really lovethe last few words, he obviously thinks you are the bees knees No, 'the ballad of QPR' is far headier stuff. It sings of the human condition itself. A worthy pastime for any true gentleman. As said well done Flanman, hope you had a good day. Don't give up the idea of playing for the R's, I haven't and I am 6 years older, 5 foot nothing....and a girl!
Nice one Flanners......I had the pleasure of reaching that milestone a few weeks ago......embrace it, it's not so bad.....
Happy Birthday Flanman. Hope you had a super day with your family and friends there in Utrecht. I will never forget the fantastic day we had in Amersfoort on the Dutch tour when the PSV friendly got cancelled and Lee Hoos bought us beer to compensate. Little did he know how much we would actually drink at his expense lol. Great memories. Hope to see you at a game in London at some stage.
