Not comparable. Hitler was a war criminal during his lifetime and would have been tried for this if caught, Colston did nothing illegal during his

    …………

agree RA if HITLERS had had a statue put up would not have been in the 20's [possibly confusing WW1 with WW11 ! ] it would only have lasted had Sir WINSTON Churchill NOT given him the opportunity to commit suicide! and were all exterminated.

    on the peanut orator …
he made a very important "statement" on our and his being "had Churchill not guided us through and won the war, had been defeated we not be here unless blued eyed blondes [ in other words paying homage to an historical fact ] amongst other reasons any human might not be here [ living ] or on a particular continent then you need to embrace history fully another example is AUSTRALIA! USA /CANADA …. before you adopt a physically orientated protest you need to read up on history, or make a statement … make sure you compare like for likes.... hindsight now tells us slavery was wrong [ how it was done] and conditions were poor [ all conditions throughout the world compared to today were poor no sanitation, no clean water, that's why they brewed beer, no real housing for the masses …

as I have pointed out before … the tribal thing has been going on for centuries . before the "slave trade era" [ which besides being in hindsight an abhorrent part of history ] many of the 80,000 would likely have been involved in the tribal conflicts where they often did and still do leave no prisoners!

if you can get a logical point then that will be interesting.

There are cases in the UK of people being retrospectively charged for crimes even if they weren't illegal at the time they were committed, if it's outlaw was naturally foreseeable. And slave trade opposition was certainly around during (and even before) Colston's time.

The FLA and DFLA are not Fascists. What they are is predominately white and working class patriotic football fans. A cursory look at their politics on their sites means they cannot be Fascists. A nuanced point the MSM rarely make.

One of the organisers of Bristol's All Live Matter protest was black. A black veteran was present. Fascist? Far-Right?

From last weekend there has been media wide condemnation of these violent groups. Media reports stated six police officers were injured.

The previous weekend the media was reporting that the BLM protest's were largely peaceful. According to what media you read there anything up to sixty officers injured.

Regarding publicised narratives I think people should look critically at the media.

Something else that has occurred to me over the weekend whilst mulling the current pandemic, considering the people like Matt Lucas and David Walliams apologising (for trying to be funny) and John Cleese correctly lambasting the BBC, whilst drinking beer was this.

We Brits are known for being broad shouldered, not taking ourselves too seriously, not being offended by name calling or personal jibes, and being able to laugh at ourselves. It's got us through world wars, depressions, and terrorism.

It therefore lead me to conclude that the British people protesting in this country, whether in support of BLM or the direct opposite over the last couple of week, don't seem to have any of those qualities or values, or if they do, then they are well hidden.

Thoughts ? Is it just me, or just an age thing ?

See, I feel different....I would have no problem with a statue of Hitler, so long as it portrayed and described the evil & suffering he caused....it's still history, there for it can not or should not be deleted or forgotten..

Without causing an arguement, but Hitler was in WW1 and this is where he rose to his power in 1920’s from his beliefs of WW1.

Fate plays some strange tricks; I visited the Canadian front line in France and was given a tour of the trenches there. The enemy in the trenches opposite included a young ‘runner’ - a certain Adolf Hitler. He was there for nearly 8 weeks doing his ‘running’ - the normal life expectancy of a runner was a few days. Amazing that he of all people lasted so long.

Interesting but this bit "Some slaves were brought over to work in Britain and Blackboy Hill on the Downs marks the place where they were sold at auction"???
