    Fiscal Rules 16/1 - Curragh 6. 40

Taking a chance that this Jim Bolger colt has made the required step forward over the Winter after an encouraging debut effort behind Wichita last season. That horse running a decent race last weekend in the English version. The Dams sire was Galileo, so on paper Fiscal Rules has a good chance of seeing out the mile ok. Fingers crossed Bolger has a good one and is ready to roll.

    All the best.

Irish 2000 guineas later with O'Brien having over half the field...

Assuming tactics will be employed to ensure race isn't run to suit Siskin. Which one wins? Could quite easily be 2nd or 3rd string..

    12:45 Kempton - Zoetic 11/4
    3:00 Wolves - Alianne 9/2
6:40 Curragh - Lope Y Fernandez 5/1. I hate backing Aiden O'Brien runners and especially when he has so many running, its usually easier to pick the correct lottery numbers in the correct order so this is a very tentative selection.

I'll take a chance on Marks Choice in the 12:30 at Wolverhampton. Had a good season last summer with 3 wins and is on a good mark now. Could be freshened up by the break.

    Morning all

HOUSE EDGE 3.15 Kempton (11/4) returns after a 985 day absence and I would like to think he can make a winning return off a mark of 80.

MOLL DAVIS 6.25 Newbury (7/4) was desperately unlucky at Newcastle last week and would have won with a clear run. She will need luck in running with her hold up style but I expect this filly to win tonight before being competitive in listed races later in the season.

In the Irish Guineas I have had a small bet on VATICAN CITY at 8/1. His form doesn’t have much substance but I liked the way he won at Dundalk and Donnacha spoke very highly of him after that race.

I thought Armory was better value at 11/2 than Siskin at half those odds.

Lope Y Fernandez is the one for money in the race and could be seen as the first string based on jockey bookings. It is very tight between Aidan's leading lights here though. I felt Armory's 3rd place in the Lagardere behind Victor Ludorum was just about the best piece of form in terms of relevance to today with the run coming at a Mile. Several of today's field are unproven at the trip and are stepping up two furlongs in come cases. Armory also has the magic Galileo seed in his pedigree.

    6.40 Curragh Armory 11/2

In the opener I had £2 on Admiral Nelson at 9/1. Ballydoyle have had several variations of the famous seaman and this one is a son of Kingman who cost £440,000 and I could not back his stablemate Merchant's Quay at evens. Admiral Nelson will probably be better for the race today and for a 6th furlong in time but I would rather a tiny interest than wade in short on an unknown quantity.

    4.05 Curragh Admiral Nelson 9/1

Bad scope, must be a huge challenge to get her ready for the Oaks now.

I'll take a chance on Ormesher in the last at Wolverhampton. The step up in trip could unlock some improvement. Its not a very competitive race and Paul Mulrennan a good booking.
