I thought Lipizzaner ran a mighty race first time out for Aidan O'Brien. He wasn't that strongly fancied on the day, going off 2/1 JF with the Jim Bolger colt Poetic Flare in a 5F contest. It was quite testing ground that day and Lipizzaner shaped like the horse who would do best of the two going forward despite going down by half a length that day. Back at Naas again but at 6F this time the son of US horse Uncle Mo is on fast ground this time and with the experience and the passage of time likely to have helped him greatly he will be hard to beat today. Lipizzaner is a shade of odds-on today so there is little to be gained by backing him at the price available. Instead, I decided to back him for the Coventry Stakes. Aidan had said after the colt's debut that he felt the horse was Royal Ascot material and it looks significant that they run him so quickly after the Irish Racing got the nod to restart. That looks to me that they want to get a win into him to set him up for the Royal meeting. Who knows what lurks in the race today amongst the unraced ones but Lipizzaner sets a pretty tough standard to beat and I felt he was worth a bet for the Coventry at the opening 10/1. Lipizzaner is in my self isolation six to follow and hopefully can trouser some points this season. 3.30 Naas Lipizzaner Coventry Stakes Lipizzaner 8/1 still available.
Morning 2.45 Haydock-Queen Gamrah @ 15-4 [Paddy Power] Another possible winner for this in form stable
Morning all I like the look of FESTIVAL DAY in the same race as Queen Gamrah. I thought she looked to have a touch of class in two of her three starts as a 2yo. She ran a bit free early on in the Rockfell leading up before dropping away to finish last of the 8 runners. Hopefully she can bounce back today 6/1 looks more than fair. In the 5.35 at Naas SCEPTICAL goes for the four timer and he has looked a top sprinter in the making on the all weather. A cheap Godolphin cast off has already paid his way for new connections and I will be disappointed if he isn’t up to competing with the best sprinters by the end of the season happy to take 7/4 3.30 at Naas I guess the experience of Lipizanner makes him a worthy fav but I wasn’t that convinced by his debut run at all. At 4/9 he is a lay in a race where there are a lot of decent pedigrees on show. I have followed the early money and had a bit EW on BATON ROUGE at 16/1 with Bet365.
Dascombe and Kingscote have the first 2 winners at Haydock, with another few with good chances later. I think I’ll give them all a little go
Lipizzaner has been strongly backed from an early Evens with Ladbrokes, who now go 4/9. Hopefully the vibes are correct and he can shorten for Royal Ascot. In the sprint Sceptical brings an improving profile but this is fast turf he faces today. Ex French horse Forever In Dreams was runner up in the Commonwealth Cup last season and the filly also placed in another Group 1 at the same track. She could progress further this season and she gets 5 lbs from the favourite. This Listed race represents a drop in class from her last start. Sceptical was ultra impressive in slaughtering his field in a Handicap last time and is clearly better than that class of race but at the odds today I slightly preferred Forever In Dreams. The runner up in Sceptical's last race, Red Cymbal, was well beaten off 70 and then 69 in two handicaps afterwards and Sceptical faces very different opponents today. Sergei Prokofiev was a good 2YO and I had a bet on him at 33/1 for the Coventry that year but he was only 3rd. He's a possible if he bounces back to his best. 5.35 Naas Forever In Dreams 10/3
chelmsford,2 00: probably only a few to concentrate on here, and i think,AWARD SCHEME is deffo one of them.shaped with real promise on her debut in third last july at newmarket, and the winner has gone on to be very useful since.so,if ready to go today, decent chance for respected connections..
The trainer/jockey are a good combination and it should secure a win if he can handle the conditions.
haydock,3 15: most of these had more than enough chances,so it might pay to look for a rather less exposed candidate here, and that brings AL RASMAH into it.after a good debut win,she was maybe flying a bit too high next time out in group company, but she must be held in some esteem at home.this looks quite a winnable race, and should have a serious e w shout.
