I certainly don't 'respect' that at all. Unless they are protecting themselves or family with underlying health reason. I have some sympathy with Troy Deeney for that reason. Even then they could self isolate from their families for a couple of months (other sportsmen leave their families for lengthy periods), just like many NHS workers and Care workers, who self isolated in cheap hotel rooms and even tents, not luxury environments.
Many essential workers were given no choice but to carry on when the virus and then the nhs was at it's peak. That wasn't working in a work environment which will be under so much scrutiny to ensure it is as safe as they can make it.
Not many things make my blood boil these days, but this does.
Presumably, they will sacrifice every penny of their contract and hand back any wages accrued since the last game played?.

I think there’s a lot of players who won’t get a contract for next season, but McCann is saying players who decide not to complete the season, not us who doesn’t want them to.

I doubt anyone would give a **** if Kingsley walked tomorrow, but it’s more likely to be the likes of Maddison and Toral, who don’t want to get injured ahead of next season, who’ll decide not to play.

If we refused to work then no pay. The ones with contract finishing should not be allowed to extend to the end of season if they don't want to play.

Hasn't maddison said he'll play? Or was it just typical HDM headline again?

If they decide not to play, they obviously won’t have their contracts extended.

Ok. But when does his contract end? I assume he'll at least play til the end of his contract. After that it's more complex. If it's Kingsley, he's 2nd choice presumably with Fleming now back?

Fair enough if Elder's fit. Fleming has probably returned 6 months older too. We don't owe Kingsley anything

Honestly, I cant blame any of our players who want to walk as soon as possible. Whether thats down to fears over the coronavirus or just to get out of the club and make a fresh start somewhere else.

The way we handle player contracts is abysmal. How have we not learnt our lesson from previous mistakes? Decent players leaving for free because we refuse to offer long contracts well before they expire, it's ridiculous. As I said, cant blame anyone for deciding to move on at the earliest opportunity.

    Unfortunately I agree with you.
During previous eras, meaning such as Adam Pearson's reign, then with Brownie, and maybe even Bruce, there was a special feel around the place, that created an attachment, a loyalty even. I could go further back to certain other periods, but maybe those were just different times full stop. Of course that attachment or loyalty was not there for all, but it was for many. That's all gone. Manager after manager has been shat on, and players have been ****ed around for years too. The heart has been repeatedly ripped out of our club, both on and off the field. Why should any of them feel any sense of loyalty. Even my attachment hangs by a thread. That's what the Allam's have created.
p.s. let's not be silly. We could do with Kingsley hanging around. We are on the brink of relegation. But, whatever.
