Im more pissed off with the £20m part. So we're relegated, you bring in a new manager and tell him we'll try and keep the whole team and spend money.. then for various reasons players are sold, isnt that even more reason to spend money? Not just the £20m you intended to spend before player sales, but more once the players were sold? It's shambolic whats happened to our club in recent years. The full quote is better.. “When I spoke for the first time with Ehab (Allam, City’s vice chairman) he told me out only three players,” said Slutsky. “He would try to keep the whole team and spend £20m for new players. “It sounded very optimistic to be honest but reality and my expectations were very different in this time. It was very difficult, very unpredictable. “I think if Ehab had told me honestly ‘Ok Leonid, I’ll sell all players and take some on loan or free agents’ I would’ve accepted this situation.
Can't argue with your assessment! I was lucky enough to twice have hour + long chats with him, I genuinely believe he felt something for the area almost instantly and tried everything he could to understand the local way of thinking and traditions etc. The championship is an extremely unique and hard league and it really took him by surprise. No matter the results, you just couldn't help but like the man. Ehab as per usual sold him down the river without a paddle and just as he cast him off, he put a hole in the boat for good measure!
From the interviews, it was obvious that he was shafted. It also confirms the 187th nail in Ehab's coffin that he is a massive **** in the how many nails can you get in Ehab's ****y coffin. The ****.
Well, there's a lot more important things to worry about at the minute isn't there, just thought I'd remind people in case they'd forgotten!
I didn't rate Slutsky at all. He was obviously out of his depth at Championship level and stood on the touchline during games like one of the stewards. I sat in the stand behind him a couple of times and he offered nothing from the touchline. Even during the warm ups the only person who acknowledged he was even there was Roary. We were a shambles on the field, totally disorganised, and he knew nothing of the opposition. We would have been relegated if we'd have hung onto him any longer. Nice bloke and all that but if nice blokes made good football managers how come Alan Titchmarsh or Peter Levy aren't in football ?
I totally concur .. his irritating habit of pacing up and down while looking lost became wearing towards the end .. and his lack of a plan B or defensive nowse was there for all to see. Lovely bloke but out of his depth at City .. I do believe he was given the job cos Eknob thought he'd get a shed full of Chelsea starlets on the cheap through his friendship with Abramovic .. alas while we got a couple it wasnt those needed or the sought after ones.
That’s a harsh analysis of our Chelsea loan players (there were 3). One is now at Fulham, one is playing in Serie A in Italy and the third is an England international and often in the Chelsea first team.
I'd forgotten about his Basil Fawlty type pacing up and down on the touchline. He did plenty of that but it wasn't much help to the team. To his credit he isn't bad mouthing the club and the city and I will always respect him for that.
Wigan Athletic have confirmed the ownership of the club has now formally changed hands. A statement on the Wigan web site said: "We can confirm that the sale of the majority shareholdings of the Wigan Athletic Group from International Entertainment Corporation (IEC) to Next Leader Fund LP has now formally completed. Two owners in eighteen months, that's just greedy. Former Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is interested in buying Championship side Reading.
And at the time they werent what he was after .. simple as that .. some have developed but they were raw when they came here .. what was needed wasnt given
Lets say we are relegated this season, and there's every chance we will be. We'll be in league 1 and im assuming still up for sale.. only this time we're even further away from the riches of the premier league, have no players of real value to sell to lower the asking price... Will the Allams still price the club at the current debt? £40+ million? If thats the case there's no chance of getting new owners. We're stuck with owners who dont want to be here and who the fans dont want.
Ehabs wont be going anywhere in the near future ,we've still got several youngest who just might enhance his bank balance in the transfer market over the next 12/18 months, namely Jacob Greaves (who's getting rave reviews down at Cheltenham on loan) and KLP.
