Just make sure you test your eyesight on the way to up say Barnard Castle way just to make sure you're fit to drive the full distance to the Toon. Wouldn't want you veering off the road and injuring one of our own!

As many on here know, I am pretty anti religion and wish it could be abolished pretty quickly across the board. I see it as backward and something that was once necessary to give us structure, but no longer relevant or required.

However I was researching and I wondered what everyones thoughts were on Jesus. Regardless if you believe in the bible or some other religious text, do you think Jesus ever really lived? There seems to be a good deal of evidence he did actually exist.

Oh yeah, takeover defo happening, it will be announced next week with Mbappe, Camavinga, Coutinho, and De Ligt.

Yeah, I reckon there was a Jesus character who was a bit of a David Icke, ahead of his time in manipulating people to follow. Probably had a great time, free food, shelter, etc., til the Roman's basically caught up with him, tried him as a criminal and killed him for his conspiratorial beliefs.

I wonder if the Roman's hadn't executed him, would we to this day believe in Apollo and all his mates? I mean, Rome just nicked all Greece's ideas and made them theirs, so would Christianity ever have taken off without the martyring of this dude? I mean, it's all really weird, that it spawned this global phenomenon which is clearly utter bollocks, with no foundation in anything scientific. Scratch that - even common sense tells you there's no God and the Bible is pure fiction. Can't think too long about it, because it just boggles the mind that empires have fallen over some desperate need to not be 'alone'.

What's this about a takeover? I must've missed the memo. Brucey with Mbappe? Match made in heaven, that.

Conclusion I came to. I reckon he was just a David Blaine type. Few magic tricks, so backward at the time they'd be creaming. I had the thought about the Romans too. But I came to the conclusion sooner or later a nutcase was gonna dupe people. It is crazy to think a book written that long ago still holds relevance for people today. In all religious texts there is a load of good well meaning text. Loads of important values, What gives the game away is all the other stuff. If anyone likes a good book I can not recommend Christopher Hitchens God is Not Great enough. Fantastic piece by piece dismantling of all the main religions. When I read it, it was the first time I'd picked something up that was my own thoughts on it down in words. Plus he does it not just on a whim, but through having actually studied the religions in detail.

A lass I know from Heaton went to live in America in gated community in Vegas. She has been sucked into the community religion drive. Now we are talking like central belt America religious. I destroyed her world when she was last over and we got into it. She literally had no answers as I used Hitchens guidance to rip it to bits.

The scary thing is that 60% take the Bible literally. It dictates their reasoning and behaviour.

Chaos you should read Hitchens God is Not Great. It would rock your world just how he systematically destroys each religion, and its done out of no malice, just a desire to see humans be a bit smarter and more honest.

Hitchin was a genius. No-one could live with his reasoning. It's funny watching him systematically destroy Americans. That infamous CNN confrontation with a loud American pastor claiming he was Irish. Hitchins - 'you're America.' Dawkins the God Delusion is also superb.

Something that I find am using is how they keep changing their arguments to marry up with scientific findings..

The world is 5000 years old for example... science proves it's around 5 billion, so they literally add a few zeros on their number as say it's a miracle it matches

    Disagree.

Humans are 100% the cause of the world’s problems and a lot use religion as an excuse.

Humans of course. The ones that hide behind religion and use it as an excuse for their actions. Terrorists, the church, Hitler etc.

I agree with this because it's human nature that's the main reason behind conflict, however religion really really doesn't help.

Ricky Gervais regurgitates a lot of Hitchin/Dawkins, but does so with a fervour worth watching.
