Elijah Dixon-Bonner signs Liverpool contract extension

Elijah Dixon-Bonner has signed a new contract extension with Liverpool FC.

The 18-year-old midfielder is a regular for Neil Critchley's U23s side this season and has been handed the captain's armband on several occasions.

A lifelong Liverpool fan, Dixon-Bonner joined the Reds in 2015 from Arsenal and made his initial impressions under Steven Gerrard with the U18s in 2017-18.

He signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in February last year and would go on to be part of the Youth Cup-winning team of 2019 under Barry Lewtas, stepping up to score a penalty in the final shootout against Manchester City.

This season he has led the U23s in several competitions, including the EFL Trophy matches against league opposition, and his performances have seen Critchley speak of a growing maturity in his game.

A creative midfielder, Dixon-Bonner has been a noticeable attacking threat in the last few months, adding extra goals to his game, including a memorable brace against Wigan Athletic.

He has also been gaining valuable European experience in the UEFA Youth League, where the Reds sit joint-top of their group with two games left to play.

Liverpool wonderkid Keyrol Figueroa has a famous dad but it's his mum who has been singing his praises.

The prolific 13-year-old striker plays for the Reds Academy and is the son of Honduras football legend Maynor Figueroa who made over 200 Premier League appearances for Wigan Athletic and Hull City.

His old man, now 36, still hasn't hung up his boots and now turns out for Houston Dynamo in Major League Soccer but Keyrol is making a name for himself with the Reds juniors.

Liverpool have announced that 18-year-old striker Fidel O’Rourke has signed his first professional contact with the Reds.

The teenager has been with Liverpool since U14s level and he’s made his way through the academy ranks, to the point where he is now a paid professional.

Unlike a lot of academy players who join clubs at very young ages, O’Rourke was spotted whilst representing his secondary school team.

He was signed up and obviously, he made a good impression as he was handed the captain’s armband at the under 18s level when regular skipper Paul Glatzel was with the U23 squad.

Liam Coyle has signed a new contract with Liverpool FC.

The central midfielder has been with the Reds since the age of 10 and has captained sides throughout various age groups.

Coyle, 20, is renowned as a tough tackler who patrols the area in front of the back four, breaking up play and setting up counter-attacks.

A passionate boyhood Red, Coyle used to walk to training sessions at Melwood from his home in West Derby just 10 minutes away.

He made his debut for the U18s as a 15-year-old and has since progressed to the U23 squad.

Internationally, he has been called into the Northern Ireland U21 setup, though a persistent back problem has limited his appearances in recent times.
