    Well, Long drives me up the wall sometimes. However I'm pleased with this news, I think it reflects well on the club, manager and supporters.
    Ralph knows his worth, the club backed him, and the supporters (mostly) understand what Shane brings to the table.

    Also one of the players I feel I can relate to for some reason.

    I will stick my neck out and say that he will be awarded one penalty in those two years. Well he must be due one.

    To be fair he did get a penalty at Leicester.....which was then ruled out for offside by VAR. <laugh>

    I would just compare the way Southampton started the season with Long out of the team compared to how it performed when he became first choice.

    Few would have predicted Long forcing his way back in instead of leaving at the end of the season but he did it based on impact.

    of course not, but Saintsfan86 made his preference. I just made mine. I’d rather watch MLT for two minutes than Franny for 200.

    if I was heading for a scrap down an alley, I’d pass Matt my jacket to hold and stand with Franny.

    love them both.

    Arguably, in our current squad, there a a few players (Ings, Redmond, JWP) who give 100% effort for 90 minutes and occasionally deliver moments of magic.

    Best of both worlds?

    I'd hold both their jackets and let them get on with it!

    Personally delighted with Shane signing, he's the first name I'd put on the team sheet and may I remind you I was our village third team (unsuccessful) manager for a season and a half.

    No appearance: 2 W, 2 D, 6 L: 8 points in 10.

    Last season:

    Starts: 2 W, 4 D, 6 L: 10 points in 12.
    Sub appearances: 5 W, 4 D, 5 L 19 points in 14.
    No appearance: 1 W, 3 D, 6 L: 6 points in 10.

    Combined:

    Starts: 25 points in 25.
    Subs: 30 points in 20.
    Nope: 14 points in 20.

    We're better when Shlong plays, but we're at our best when he only plays a little, I guess?
