I don’t, can’t, won’t support Sunderland anymore! after the way they treated us at the Coventry match and the loss of Grandpops, which we now know could have been treated if he had disclosed his symptoms in the 3 1/2 hours we had paid for. All because there were not enough paying customers left that had bought tickets! I’m just an England fan now! today was the final straw! **** off SD and cm and Micheal Laidler who decided to finish the event and has not replied to my email
I'll always follow the the team no matter what. We'll still be around long after those incompetents are long gone - lets just hope that they're gone in the not too distant future
Obviously this is quite extreme, but I think most of us understand why we're at the crossroads. Most fans are loyal because it's in the blood, or in their experiences as a kid and as an adult, but there is very little to cling to now beyond those in-grained ties. We can all say how we have no choice, but sometimes the reality makes it feel like one. It's not just the last 2 years, it's the 2 before that and the feeling that we've been spiralling out of control financially for a decade now. What is a football club? The inner workings are being laid bare, and we're being shown that beneath the holding companies and CEO's, once you open up the lid, there's just a grey soulless entity that has been stripped of anything that made it Sunderland. The players aren't in the community (even before covid 19) and the owners have pillaged everything of value. Then new owners look at us, our big stadium, our academy, our fanbase, and they say 'that isn't worth much'. And it's worse because they're right, we now know that ultimately, SAFC's only thing that truly matters is it's league position. All of the things we thought mattered, the stadium, the academy... worthless. White elephants, in fact, that cost more in upkeep than they deliver in value - because that's all that matters in football now, the value. Our fans? Great, until we can't turn up to the stadium in person anymore. In the 90s and 00's there was a feeling of being different, being more historic. There was depth beneath the surface, we weren't just a new build, we were an old Victorian manor that was being restored, and if you went in you would find something everyone was proud of. Now, you go into our manor and find it has become a shell, bought by a cowboy to be converted into flats. Until we have owners that can find the soul of the club, more people will question the things that matter. I doubt many will stop supporting us, but a lot of people will detach themselves from whether any of it matters, and in the end that's the same thing.
After following the club for almost 60 years you just hope that something clicks in to place , SAFC is in our hearts and even though we are probably at an all time low you love the club and want things to take a change for the better other clubs have done it even in recent times hopefully we can as well . We have had it tough but us SAFC supporters we are tough people and when the long awaited takeover happens we have to trust that the new regime is as good as our fantastic fans and can turn the club around - Sunderland till I die !!!
