The bottom line is the BeoutQ issue is the main one. If you take that into account - and it's pretty serious ****, actually, I've read a lot on it and it isn't just PL rights, it's a load of copyrighted sport globally - then you can see why the PL have a lot of work to do PURELY in relation to the allegations. - Ensuring all 19 other clubs are comfortable that this will benefit them, that the piracy issue is dead and unrelated to those involved. - Ensuring FIFA, UEFA and its' members are also comfortable with the takeover. The WTO report availability does link BeoutQ's actions to those of the Saudi Government, who due to the proxy war with Qatar weren't very effective in shutting down the station or blocking it from using Arabsat satellites (Saudi Owned). HOWEVER - and this is the big green light for me - it was SHUT DOWN in August 2019 after productive discussions between Saudi gov and sporting bodies globally. Yes, they were slow. Yes, they were in part complicit in allowing piracy. However, having the Saudis invested in the PL is SURELY a better idea than refusing them access - which, I imagine, is exactly the kind of discussion that has to be going on. Add into this the fact there will most likely be under-the-table complaints from almost every club, and you have a political **** storm. I don't believe it should be stopped on any of these grounds, because they're irrelevant today. The Saudi's themselves will have a lot of legal backing to cover this, I would imagine, and point to the one court ruling (in France) actually finding in favour of the Saudi Govt above the accusations from BeIN. In a nutshell, it should be approved. The reasons why people don't want it to be are hidden (fear, jealousy, etc.). The reasons they'll complain about are irrelevant. The PL has once again shown itself to be leaderless and spineless in this process. As Miguel Delaney - who I don't like - points out, they are a capitalist shell and nothing more. They aren't regulatory, they aren't particularly useful, and one day in the not too distant future will be rendered irrelevant by a breakaway Euro league.
There is a flipside too. Say no and the Saudi's could give a whole **** you to everyone and encourage piracy. Who will stop them? No-one. Why? Because the world needs the Saudi's.
But we are discussing this in relation to the takeover. You're the one who hasn't understood that the consortium cannot talk to him.
When did I say or indicate that? you're making a wild assertion .. all I've said is that it could be a sign that Ashley is staying and it's back to business as usual
The lack of statement in relation to ticket refunds is evidence enough that no one is currently running the club.
True. They are a joke. A football lawyer has come out and said the club in breach of contract. Self evident. A few letters threatening legal action may see some movement.
It would create a future liability yes. But you have an asset value of say 15’m with 2m a year in wages. Seems crazy to let your best potential Player go for free at the end of a contract by either party!
exactly he's worth more than 500k .. that's just compo... sign him up and he's worth a decent amount for a player if his age ... how much did Liverpool pay for the Fulham lad ?
The club will be able to negotiate contracts for players. That’s is just normal business process. If all the players where on the last 6 months of a contract then you would end up with no players. So they must be able to negotiate these kind of things surely?
This is why it just doesn’t make sense. The club stands to lose financially whoever is the owner after this ends.
I can’t believe that. They have to be able to run the club still as a business. It’s detrimental to the value of the club.
it makes sense if Ashley is staying because it would cost money to sign him that he won't pay in wages....
