I think what they are saying is that if a takeover was imminent then Longstaff wouldnt dream of leaving NUFC
I prefer quirky to wierd, I am frequently described as such. Why would Matty only be buggering off if the take over was off? He's hardly getting game time as it is, and the take over goes through presumably we'd buy better players and he'd be pushed even further down the pecking order.

He's decent but wouldn't get a look in under a takeover.
There's a thread for Longstaff elsewhere. Please leave this thread for the desparation, false hope and self-pity it was designed for. On that note, I saw a few wildly optimistic morons were waiting for Saul Niguez to announce he was joining Newcastle. One hour ago he announced he was "joining" 'Club Costa City' - some weird Nike sponsorship/marketing bollocks. He's contracted to Atletico for another 5 years.
On an even more wildly optimistic note, our old mate Jim "48/72 Hours" White has just said the takeover is "almost there", or so a "source" told him.
Hes an asset of the club though. If he signs the contract then his value is anything upwards of the 400k we would get in a bosman situation. If he turns into a top player then that value is high!
Except that there is no evidence of failure. Evidence of failure is a statement confirming that the deal has been rejected.
Exactly. Rights are irrelevant. Saudis have talked to managers and chief execs so far so why not players? If I was going to buy a house and part of the reason was the lovely garden... if I saw a £250 palm tree being given away for free the day I went to get the keys I'd be pissed off.
I get that, wait until next round of rights is up. But if that is a sticking point on takeover, why wait till end of 2022 season?
Remember aswell. The asset is given a value in the accounts. Marty’s value when the accounts where done would have been assessed. Given he’s an English premier league player who has masses of potential then he could easily be valued by the club at 15m. So if he leaves then that’s 15m of value written off the balance sheet. So is Ashley going to drop his valuation of the club accordingly?
