I watched a completely peaceful protest dismantled by excessive force, tear gas and rubber bullets last night in order for some despicable ****, who has advocated grabbing girls by the fanny as a suitable introduction, to pose with a bible outside a church for a politically driven photo opportunity... but looters nicked a bigger telly than mine ... ffs ... wake up you soft, gullible ****s ...

Not sure that’s true actually. When I was in New York, a guy was shot to death by police at 8.00am in Times Square. I walked past and saw it all taped off, got the story later that day from an acquaintance.

Turned out it was a young white guy with mental health issues, who became aggressive when a shopkeeper wouldn’t serve him alcohol at that time in the morning. Shopkeeper called the cops, situation escalated, guy pulled a knife ; a knife ffs. So the cops fired seven rounds into him. Barely got a mention on the news.

The point being, the cops in the US are a huge problem, and it’s not always about race. But on the other hand, do you blame the cops being trigger happy, when so many of the general population carry guns legally themselves?

I've mentioned it already on this thread, but the US Police forces are some of the heaviest resourced in the world. They are armed, have huge amounts of resources and can call in huge swathes of back up if needed.

The point, is that groups of disparate looters is not a problem for them to deal with. They could quash that in an instant. But that's not what is going on here.

Trump demanding that the National Guard is brought in, or he'll send in the army, is all about him trying to create a narrative that he's the 'law and order' president, needed to quell the anarchy. This is a campaign move and his well orchestrated PR stunt with the bible was all about him trying to create the 'optics' of a president 'protecting' the people. It's the classic tactic used again and again in an election year. Create a problem and offer the solution.

Problem is, people have seen him use tear gas and rubber bullets on innocent demonstrators. And they are seeing him deploy Police units to terrorise people, instead of protecting them.
