https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52890889 It says Southampton assistant coach Richard Kitzbichler has also extended his deal.
Perhaps he believes in the club, so much so that he’s not going to let uncertainty about the future worry him? Anyway, I’m suddenly interested in football again.
Oh, we’ll still be Saints; so mostly a bit ****, but at least with a forward looking manager who believes in us.
Good point. Perhaps Gao knows he won’t be paying said salary. Anyway, nothing’s going to burst my Saints related bubble today. Europe here we come
Very happy with the news. Shame we don't have the money (or willingness to spend it) in order to support him properly, but at least we've tied him down.
The Tory leadership change will be early next year, Gove is next on the runway but our Rishi may prove to be the surprise package Anyway, could Rishi’s father in law buy us? Billionaire businessman
He did a great job turning things around, but he also should take some of the blame for the bad start. I like RH, but it would have been nice to have played out the season hopefully ending in a good note, and then resign him. As is, I’m still not completely sold on him just yet. But... he doesn’t suck, we are not exactly in the best position to attract top talent, some stability would be nice, and coronavirus changed the timeline. So yeah, good move. Happy with this. I still wouldn’t sign Long to an extension. But I get it. Again because of coronavirus, it’s hard to bring in new players, and his contract was up so we would have had to replace him. Plus, he seems like a hard worker and a really cool guy, doesn’t mind sitting in the bench, and is still useful as a second half sub. If the terms are not too extravagant— and they probably won’t be— I’m okay with it. Given the situation, it’s impossible to do the clear out I had hoped for. And it might not be a bad thing, considering we needed to rebuild the front office and now they will have more time to work together and build a plan, which it sounds like they’ve been working on with RH.
This is the crux of the issue for me. Ralph has not been supported in the previous transfer window and we have not yet really watched a team that he has assembled himself. Give him the support and I think we should be able to sustain a position in the top half or the table / fringes of a European position easily. However, I think the squad does need serious strengthening and maybe something of a re-build before 20/21. Not convinced that re-starting 19/20 is the right thing to do at the moment. I would have preferred that the season be axed and the club get on with rebuilding for the next campaign.
Well its a start............The rumours of us selling and all the other crap hasn't done us any favours. Or any of the other clubs come to that lets just hope we get back to as normal as can be fairly quickly. Although I cant see much in the way of attendances until about October.........who knows........
