It's all down to the quality of medical attention you get, and how you adjust your play afterwards. Ie Craig Bellamy had a serious injury, but went to that Steadman guy to get fixed and was every bit as good as he previously was when he came back and went to bigger and better things after us. Shearer's injury was most serious and he adjusted his playing style so he could still be as effective.

HBA got good medical attention and came back strongly, his game was always about skills more than pace, so it really didn't affect his game much. Yeah he did well at Nice, but the French league is massively easier than the Prem and was far less of a challenge to him.

    Can he stay though?

All his money is in stocks and shares which are going to crash in value so he's desperate to get liquidity, I'd say he wants this more than anyone right now.

for those who want to read the article in full

and there is a lot to read

This article will (i) provide some background information of the supposed takeover of NUFC; (ii) provide details of the background of and the individuals of the KSA PIF and controversy surrounding the KSA PIF; (iii) explain the applicability and set out the relevant provisions of the ODT; and (iv) give an opinion on whether the ODT, from what is known and set out in sections (i)-(iii), is likely to prevent the supposed takeover of NUFC.

I always thought his initials should have been CBA instead of HBA

FootballLaw says the test MUST be passed. He's a sports lawyer.

A new exec started at the PL on Monday - we may have been waiting for his thumbs up.

    That's it.

I was contemplating messaging someone at the PL I'm connected to on LinkedIn. Won't bother if its failed.

This won't fail. No grounds. PIF are a separate legal entity.

Significant legal action against the PL awaits if they even contemplated.

The only thing I can think of is it's just the Premier League being a combination of inept, incapable, leaderless, weak, stretched, arrogant and gutless. They're in reality a pissy little organisation (compared to the likes of PIF) with limited resource, intelligence and capability. They probably DO get scared by threats from BEIN. They probably DO listen to Richard Keys. They would probably be buried if PIF took legal action for defamation, which is feasibly where this could go if they refused to allow them to own a club.

What boils my piss about the PL is their grossly inflated sense of self importance. Without clubs, there's no PL. Without fans, there's no clubs. The PL is a 300-employee organisation with high revenues but REALLY low profits. £4bn in, £3.99bn out. The net worth of the PL is incredibly small, and so are the clubs. Though the media would make you think these are the most important companies in the World, it cost less to buy Newcastle United than it costs to own 5 (FIVE) percent of LiveNation. PIF spent $400m on just 5% of LiveNation.

The only way it wont go ahead is if there are some very influential people within the Premier League. People from within the top 6 not wanting a cat thrown amongst the pigeons. What sort of mess could they make if they throw their toys out of the pram? I dont think we could begin to understand the politics and underhand dealings that will be going on behind closed doors, not just at Newcastle, but the rest of the teams, as a result of this takeover.

Again, this is probably true. Whilst it's torment for the fans, we have to remember whose steering this and what they're likely to know or be capable of. Hard though it is, we've got to remember they're probably in no rush.

Failing PIF is tantamount to saying that we won't do business with Saudis. That is incompatible with our political and trade relationship.
