Is that what he's said or is it that it's no longer just about Floyd but both issues? I would've thought his message of attackkng civil society encompasses the mistreatments of blacks by the authorities as well as the actions of the rioters. In that sense it isnt just about Floyd. Btw I haven't seen or read anything today as I'm working so genuine question.
In fairness he has a point ... looters are scum.... that said, it is way beyond time that racist cops in the US are shown that they don't have carte blanch to kill black people indiscriminately on a whim and for the most minor misdemeanor.
They seemed to suggest when they looked at all the people arrested last night, they were from out of state, and it was the locals having to get together to clear up the mess in the morning. I must admit, i always find it strange that locals would destroy their own facilities, otherwise you are just wiping out your own amenities.
That a guy could lose his life over a fake $20 bill.... irrespective of whether he actually knew it was fake or not, is beyond ****ing belief... it is truly sickening.
I would dare to suggest, that some of the looters, particurly when they started robbing the local liquer store, had no thoughts for George or the protest against racism, it was about their own greed and getting off their head last night at the end of a bottle, I couldn't think of anything more disrespectful. In the following link you will see dozens and dozens of businesses affected, there is even one shop, with a big fook off sign in the window, saying minority owned, guessed what....the scum still damaged it! https://bringmethenews.com/minnesot...buildings-damaged-looted-in-minneapolis-riots
It doesn't ... I'm not at all surprised that the looters are not from the area. I grew up in terraced streets in Leicester- my ma and pa ran the corner shop and were always very decent to the locals - when I went to Uni the summer after my old man died, the local 'bad boys' kept an eye out for the old girl whilst I was away and the business was fine - no ****er took liberties ... that is what community is really about ... you look after your own.
although I did find it amusing, when I saw the video footage of the woman running out of Target the day before, with two bed side lamps
you will always get opportunists... and you just know that the justification will be that the damage was already done, so a little bit more on the insurance claim won't hurt
Anyone know why the protestors attacked the CNN headquarters, I thought one of their people who was black, got arrested by police.
I don't disagree with that. There's no excuse for looting at all. I think you can also tell the difference between raw anger as opposed to what appears to be quite a lot of arseholes taking advantage of the situation and fcking over their own. However my point is the phrase "it's no longer about Floyd". For me, it's not one or the other but both. What happened to Floyd represents a wider problem of the way police treat the black community as well as those within the community who take advantage of it and behave like animals. I haven't seen exactly what the governor has said btw, I'm just going off that one quote.
A lot of the arrests for violence and property damage are from people coming in from other states, apparently. There's a lot of people using this stuff to make their own narrative. Don't get me wrong, there's a substantial number of locals just nicking ****. We saw that with the London riots. A lot of dubious, organised crap in the background too, though.
The medical examiner noted Mr Floyd had underlying heart conditions and the combination of these, "potential intoxicants in his system" and being restrained by the officers "likely contributed to his death". The report says Mr Chauvin had his knee on Mr Floyd's neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds - almost three minutes of which was after Mr Floyd became non-responsive. Nearly two minutes before he removed his knee the other officers checked Mr Floyd's right wrist for a pulse and were unable to find one. He was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in an ambulance and pronounced dead around an hour later. So he carried on, and they let him, for 2 mins after they knew he had no pulse. Bloody hell.
@brb I've read up on the governor's remarks and I think I mistook your quote earlier for what was being said. I thought that quote was him expressing his own view, but he was saying the rioters' actions were no longer about Floyd's death. That makes more sense and based on what we're seeing he is right to say it.
Yeah I had seen the full footage and it was clear the guy was already dead, well before the copper removed his knee. Hence why I was chatting about someone needed to drag the copper off. I think the only reason the cop moved his knee at all was because of the paramedics. He didn't just kill the victim, but he made sure he was dead as well! It was the actions of a complete psychopath.
I would agree with that, to a certain degree. But when out of state people are trashing local businesses, so I'm not talking big stores here, and the locals have to clear up the shhite the next morning, it just aint on bro. When folks are having to put signs in their window saying minority, it's pretty clear it's not the locals doing the trashing. the locals are the ones clearing up the aftermath, they have to live and work with.
I'm with you bro but I saw the anarchy in 92. Nothing come of it. I see the anarchy from Hong Kong to Palestine. Nothing comes of it. No one gives a fck really.
Exactly, I'm fully supportive of the view George Floyd was MURDERED, I'm fully supportive it was because he was black. If you trashed my business, although I would understand your anger, you would be destroying my livelihood, it took my whole life to build up. I didn't kill the guy but you took my goods because?
You can do it without trashing businesses. Civil disobedience - blockades (roads, public buildings) marches. light torches, vigils, camp outside the copshop and hurl abuse at them ****s.
