Its not our job to fix whats going in any other part of the world other than the UK. Why do we have so many derelict houses and housing estates which could quite easily be turned into perfectly habitable living communes for people who have no option but to live on the streets? A lot of these people are not there through choice, and even more ridiculous is the fact that some of these people have fought in wars for the country who will do nothing to help them. People have said for years that we should take care of our own before anyone else. We seem to be able to pull billions of pounds out from behind sofas and under floorboards when pandemics strike or to "donate" foreign aid to other countries in times of hardship....its a ****ing joke! This country is going to **** due to "austerity" measures yet we're ready willing and more than able to just bend over and take it up the arse when someone comes cap in hand. Fortnightly bin collections, local tips closing, grass not being cut, potholes all over our roads....the list is ****ing endless. Im proud to be British but at times I'm ashamed and ****ing embarrassed to live here. My dad's recently returned from living in Spain over the winter months which he does every year. Since lockdown the fire service and local authorities have been out every night hosing all public spaces down and spraying disinfectant type stuff around...EVERY NIGHT! Police road blocks in place at entry/exit points to every town to stop people moving around. We cannot even do the simple things in this country very well....but of a laughing stock really.
thousands of Pakistani, Indian and Bangladeshi passports are regularly found dumped at the Turkish border. Clearly loads are pretending to be Syrian which itself is disgusting..
a case in point is that we send hundreds of millions in aid to Pakistan and India.. who both have nuclear weapons programs and India have a ****ing space program ffs.
agree. we should mine the English Channel... that will put them off even trying to come here for freebies..... a deterrent is clearly needed of some sort.
We could install passive speakers across the south coast and blare out Craig David songs. That would be a bit cruel tho.
Where are you going to send them back to, where did they come from? If they are trying to enter illegally then they probably don't have ID on them.
Do you not think we have a responsibility when we have participated in bombing peoples homelands? As far as this country going to the dogs, that's mainly to do with an unneccessary austerity ideology
Where they came from, usually France. I think that we should be able to do that with radar and satellite monitoring of the Channel combined with sea knowledge in relation to type of vessel and tides. On checking it seems that according to International law illegal entry is not allowed to be an automatic failure for asylum applications. We would, therefore, need to take them straight back and not allow them to land in the UK. Also, apparently, passing through non hostile countries to get to the UK is also not an automatic bar from being able to seek asylum in the UK. Can understand some people having to flee from the country where they live but the ability to seek asylum should, IMO, be restricted to the next safe country and not a take your pick from the World map. The latter makes it a mockery that you are supposed to be simply fleeing for your own or your family’s safety.
So Turkey Greece, Malta etc should be forced to take all asylum seekers? If you have that as a solution then those countries close their borders and don't allow any asylum seekers in at all which then spreads throughout Europe until no one accepts them. This is why all European countries have agreed to accept a quota of Asylum seekers. We share the responsibility with them for those our pursuit of wealth, oil and power has left in the dirt
No. I’m not saying that. I’m saying the neighbouring countries to the asylum seeker’s country should take them. Not all countries border on to those named and not all asylum seekers are from Syria. I also have no issue at all with asylum seekers who go through the proper channels. If we have a European wide agreement then I have no problem with that either. My problem is with asylum seekers who attempt to usurp the correct procedures, they are the ones I would return to where they set out (eg France not Syria). Why should asylum seekers who follow the rules, the processes, the procedures be prejudiced by those who don’t and who have entered the country illegally? That’s not fair on them.
We are an island nation with finite space and resources. This country has changed irrevocably over the last 25 years. Some of the people that were allowed in to this country should have been sent back where they came from.
