I have a bit of sympathy with them. I can only hope in private they’re calling them useless ****s but I guess there’s a moral dilemma in that publicly calling them useless ****s risks people listening even less and our numbers rising faster. Or being booted out and not being able to influence things at all.

When the clown refused to let them answer a question was or should have been a real eye opener for even our furthest right supporters. These lot are scum.

Well yeah obviously but his base keep finding new and creative ways to justify it rather than admitting they’re hopelessly out of their depth and not very well-intentioned in the first place.

Sir Jeremy Farrar and Prof John Edmunds have both broken ranks and said it is too early

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...-lockdown-sage-adviser?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

We have daily infection rates of 2000 new cases/day, other countries of cpmparable size (Germany France Italy Spain) have infection rates of 300-400

We were always saying we were 2-3 weks behind in the pandemic...so why jump early
Worst still tell everyone in advance, on a sunny weekend that we are coming out next week.
It is stupid man-management, even in my own family...I cannot contain the meet up on Sunday...

"We haven't seen you for 8 weeks, and I am at work Monday ...so can't do it then.
It is only 12 hours difference"

The new line on Breakfast this morning was “Johnson has had conflicting advice so has had to make a political decision”. Doesn’t bode well.

There are at least 3 people at my job, myself included, with medical conditions that would struggle to beat this virus.

We have to go back if instructed, none of us can afford not to.

So a number of scientists now speaking up and saying it's too soon to ease.
I wonder if Johnson really genuinely thinks that because further easing isn't due til Monday that we are still more or less locked down? Or does he actually know the reality that lockdown started falling apart from around VE Day?
It's ****ing crazy to me that they still want to send kids back to school on Monday.

Why not send the kids back? Have you seen the damage it is doing to them? Record numbers of abuse at home and online. Record numbers of anxiety and depression in the young. 700k-1m didn’t access the school work. If the school is a safer environment then let them go back.

You see I'm of the persuasion that asks why these kids are in this position to start with. Disadvantaged, abused, poverty stricken. Why do the government suddenly care now? They have never given a flying **** before. I for one wouldnt be sending my kids back to school until I knew it was safe. Even if the kids dont suffer as much with this disease, the rate of infection will surely go up, transmitting to parents, teachers, extended family, their friends and so on. With lockdown now non existent due to absolutely piss poor messaging or the dominic cummings effect then I have no doubt that the 2nd wave will come.

It’s 100% about the economy. There’s no logical argument to suggest they give two ****s about anyone’s mental health or the risk of domestic abuse.

The economy is incredibly important too, but it’s so utterly disingenuous for anyone to pretend to look at it from any other angle.

Those kids are clearly in horrible circumstances but caused by the lock down? Maybe its exacerbated situations that were already present. Speaking from my own experience seeing my nieces and nephew and friends kids is that lockdown hasn't had a detrimental effect.
The fact is from a contagion point of view it just isn't safe yet. The decisions being made are for economical and political reasons over the scientific and it's going to lead to more deaths.

Not correct either. The figures shown are not all deaths from yesterday. Some who died yesterday haven’t been recorded yet. Some in that figure died before yesterday as well.

In your opinion Frome. We have many doctors on here.
Many scientists said they should have gone back long ago and some even say they shouldn’t have stopped?
Why with some has everything got to be political (nasty Tories). You maybe lucky with your families kids but there are many many children that are suffering. Look at the evidence re children and Covid. There are problems to solve but they need to return or we will have a generation of kids that will have many life problems.

Regardless of scientific advice...the kids are going back on Monday.
Lockdown is nearly gone. Lots of things are starting on Monday...all shops opening 2 weeks later.
The death rate in the last few days of this week are not significantly different to those of the previous week (!!)
Our new infection numbers are still in the thousands where as most of the rest of Europe are in the hundreds

I/we cannot do anything about it . This is sadly now a scientific experiment to me...and I hope it is none of you or none of my family or me that suffers.
Are the statiticians, modellers, SAGE advisors wrong or is Dom and Boris.
    We will see what happens.

Of course there will be conflicting scientific advice, the government chooses which path to follow. They make political decisions, they don't 'follow the science'. This government must be held to account for its horrendous failures throughout this crisis.

We will see after the inquiry. People will judge them when that is over. Already you are condemning them without the full facts. I understand, you don’t like them. You are a labour voter and whatever they do you will criticise. Fortunately not everyone is like you.

I'm not a 'Labour voter' - I've voted Liberal, Green and TUSC on occasions - I'm just not a Tory. The evidence of this government's failures is plain for all to see.

The Polish Premiership (Ekstraklasa) has resumed this weekend without fans. I may be even tempted to watch this evening’s match of Lech Poznań v Legia Warszawa. Paweł Wszołek should start for Legia.

What is most interesting and even surprising, is that there are already plans to open the stadiums to fans from 19th June, but initially to a limit of 25% stadium capacity and with social distancing. This will then gradually be relaxed and increased.

I really cannot see the “Ultra” fans respecting “social distancing”.

I attach an article in English on the topic.

From an outsiders viewpoint I'd say that the UK Government lost the argument a week or so ago when Boris didn't take a firm stand over Cummings, he should have gone even though the police say he "May" have broken lockdown rules with his eyesight test drive.....seriously what a cock and bull story.....note they didn't say anything about him going from London to Durham...…..Unfortunately on the back of that the great British public think the whole virus thing has disappeared and they can go about their normal lives, it's ok to take the kids to the beach but not back to school...…..

There will be the vast majority who will still take precautions but you just know that a large minority will simply ignore the social distancing rules, they are the ones who will cause the problems and be the cause of a 2nd wave......

Good luck because you'll need it......
