New Premier League coronavirus test results: Four people have tested positive from three clubs (out of 1,008 tests).

So based on what has just been announced at today press conference, will all those who have been near those 4 people have to go into 14 day quarantine?

Good question! That's potentially 4 PL squads out of action for a fortnight.

Cue a couple more City lads testing positive tomorrow...

I'm full of good questions, pity there's no answers though.

I'm 55 years old, so I wouldn't be much of a wing back. I do think I could do a job in goal though and I have no symptoms apart from the terrible pains in my neck and shoulders.

I'm available. I'd do it for free as well Ehab.

You might want to rephrase that.

They go into seven day quarantine, nobody else does (other than the people they live with). We don't know if they're players or club staff and these four could be from the six who tested positive last time and still haven't yet passed after retest and have to start the seven day quarantine again.

And for those who have been near the infected person see the right hand side in yellow. I suppose they will get a test even if they have no symptoms, however even if the test is negative they will still need to isolate for 14 days.

The definition of close contact appears to be quite specific:

    What is a close contact?
Only people who have been "close" to an infected person will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

    Close contacts are:
    • people you spend 15 minutes or more with at a distance of less than 2m
    • people you have direct contact with - such as sexual partners, household members or people with whom you have had face-to-face conversations at a distance of less than 1m
The contact must have taken place between two days before and up to seven days after symptoms appeared.

It's not just everyone an infected person has been near.

OK not seen that which makes it better for the general public, but footballers? close contact with other players, coaches, medical staff and the likes.

I guess it's open to the interpretation of the NHS Test and Trace team.

Whilst it's undoubtedly a laudable thing to attempt to put in place, I think that the effectiveness of it relies on a lot of 'what ifs?'

Here's hoping the system proves to be a game changer. (Generally, not just for football).

They're saying it might prevent 5-15% of infections. Well, 5% maybe, 15% I think is far too ambitious. We've already seen that a lot of people pay scant regard to social distancing, staying at home, etc. How will those same people respond when they get a phone call telling them to isolate for a fortnight because an anonymous somebody who has tested positive claims to have been in close contact with them? Not well I fear.

    Really hope I'm wrong...

LaLiga could gain TV audience advantage over Bundesliga and Premier League when they restart after announcing games will be aired for free in Britain in June on Sky/online.

Tranmere owner Mark Palios insists relegation from League One is lazy
    2hrs ago
'If that means we're dealing with 27 teams in League One or Two next season, we'll do that.

'Greg Clarke, the FA chairman, came out with his quote about relegation being crucial to the pyramid, but it's such a lazy soundbite.

'Yet having relegation has become a mantra, because of what Clarke said. I just don't think he thought it through.

Tranmere had won three games straight before the season was suspended, all away
'Look, of course, we want to play. We won three away games before it stopped, we've got three games against teams immediately above us to come.

'The idea of complete sporting integrity has gone because there will be teams who will have lost players by the time of the restart, who may be looking at half a youth team, or be signing up new players — so I accept that.

'But PPG takes none of those nuances into account anyway. That's why margin of error must be recognised.'

Palios won't rule out going to court. 'To just be told, "If there's no restart you're relegated" — is unfair,' he adds. 'The statement from the EFL was disrespectful, couched in terms of "it's a pandemic, you can't please everybody". Yet every football person recognises it as blatantly unfair unless you finish the season.

'Our kids go to school with mates wearing Liverpool and Everton shirts. We've made them proud — why should all that be cast aside? Just once, a helping hand here would be nice.'

I would have thought in normal game play type training you would spend more than 15 mins with many other players (not sure if that’s in one go or cumulative though?)
