Here’s a petition which is doing well to get Maitlis reinstated. Please sign and share: https://www.change.org/p/bbc-reinst...xp=message-22434895-en-GB&share_bandit_var=v1
It will be interesting to see how long the Cummings story continues to entertain the media. The obvious outcome of this will be not arrive in the next 48 hours but will take a further two weeks when we will get an idea if the flouting of the lockdown rules will manifest itself in a spike in thee infection rates. If this is the case, then I thing the a whole issue will take on a far wider significance. As I said previously, the next issue will centre around councils openly defying the government with regard to the opening of schools. It would appear that this has already started to happen in the NW of England. Part of me things that it is good that Johnson's government's authority is starting to dissipate but the reality is that this will not help defeat the pandemic.
Any major schools and business reopening plus easing distancing and gatherings restrictions has to be with a comprehensive and reliable test and trace program in place. Also regional case differences have to be taken into consideration along with ease of implementation. Consultations between government, local authorities, unions, CBI and others needed to get a consensus for the way forward.
I just wrote to my MP Therese Coffey. I explained that I skipped going to the pub to watch the Liverpool game on March 12 and then missed my M in Laws funeral on the 19th as it was in Liverpool. I went on to explain that my cooperation is now at an end and I am now meeting my son whose girlfriend is a care home worker. Track and Trace, they can forget that I won't bother.
Seriously been trying to give them the benefit of the doubt in this difficult time, but I honestly cannot imagine anyone handling this crisis any worse than this lot. Jesus christ
I have absolutely no trust in this government whatsoever, Boris,Hancock, etc can do one. But another sad thing is the Brexiters believe Cummings has done no wrong just so he can deliver the travesty of Brexit.
It certainly would be better if everyone followed the instructions but he is now a laughing stock because every one does not include Cummings.
A con too far. Johnson and Cummings conned the people into voting for Brexit. Johnson and Cummings conned the people into making Johnson PM and swollen with confidence and success they think they can con us into believing Cummings absolute load of bullshit, lies, half truths and distortions but this is a con too far.
Post Maitlis's honest interpretation of events Nicky Campbell, who has also been forthright in his criticism of Cummings behaviour, has had his balls cut off. On his programme this morning he has become a Government apologist. I always thought that the BBC was proud that it was not the tool of the Government and yet it is slowly turning into a version of the North Korean broadcaster.
A duty is a commitment or expectation to perform some action in general or if certain circumstances arise. A duty may arise from a system of ethics or morality, especially in an honour culture. Many duties are created by law, sometimes including a codified punishment or liability for non-performance. Performing one's duty may require some sacrifice of self-interest.
This frustrates me so much These are people who are now willing to risk the health of everyone around them, and if someone gets ill as a result they will justify it to themselves and everyone else as it being Cummings' fault. What DC did was wrong and he should face the consequences for it. But each individual who chooses to go out makes that decision themselves, and must take their own responsibility for it.
Done. I have asked them if she would have been dropped from the programme if her comments had been nothing but unfettered positivity, in support of the government, but a bias all the same.
I actually think we may have gotten extremely lucky in regards to Brexit. The eurozone is really struggling to deal with this crisis. Some countries want financial stimulus, whilst some don't etc. I'm wondering if we have managed to get out at exactly the right time by sheer luck
This is so bloody frustrating. Mrs Badger has left our home just twice in ten weeks. Once for a hospital appointment and again on Sunday when she rode shotgun whilst I was giving the car it’s first workout in 9 days. The chance of her getting out, into fresh air for a walk with any confidence after the initial 12 weeks of self isolation ends, is reducing by the day, as a direct impact of the poor management of the virus and now the Scummings farce. I am seeing a difference in her demeanour and general well being, which I think is directly linked to not getting out and her genuine fear of contracting the virus if she, or I, do go out. Yesterday, my son sent me a text jokingly asking if I would change an oven heating element for him (he’s doing it himself but he jokingly asked me because I have had to do the same job myself). I found out this morning that Mrs B had been fretting about me going out to do this, having not realised that it was a joke. People have to take responsibility for their own actions and using Scummings as an excuse to breach the lockdown is totally unacceptable.
