Anyone think its funny how 'coincidental' they are?

Crystal Palace v Middlesbrough was played on the Saturday in the league, and again in the cup a few days later.

Cardiff v Leicester was played in the cup and then in the league a few days later.

Wolves v Man City in the cup in October followed by the same fixture a few days later.

Newcastle v Blackburn drawn against each other the same day they play each other in the league.

Arsenal v Bolton drawn against each other on the same day they play each other in the league.

Last season, drawn against West Brom in the cup and the game was played just days after meeting them in the league.

I'm positive there are many others. This may not interest you, but I thought it was interesting how the cup draw pans out. One amazing 'coincidence' is that we are always away...

Helped that there were so many Prem teams left I suppose but still a coincidence. What's our stats on away cup ties now, I'm starting to think the first cup game I'll see in person this year is the final (I'll break the bank for Wembley).

Seems to happen quite often in all of the cups. The odds of drawing any team are the same, but the odds to draw the same team that you are playing just days before or days after must be slim yet it keeps happening. I used to think it was a fix as teams didn't want to have to travel twice to the same place within a matter of days. I remember getting Arsenal in the FA Cup a few years back when Keegan was manager away, we then played them in the league midweek. I remember coming home and going back down days later, its not ideal.

Us and Arsenal when Keegan was last here. 3 - 0 in the cup, then 3 - 0 in the league or the other way round. (Edit: Beaten to it.)

The League Cup final is on mine and Obertan's 23rd birthdays, so let's hope we win it!

I firmly believe that there is no coincidence about some fixtures, certainly in Europe. Certainly the timing of fixtures is a con and not random at all, the TV companies clearly dictate when certain teams play others. Hence you remarkably end up with a weekend of derbies, or a weekend of so called super fixtures at just the right time of year.

But yeah amazing the way some things work out where maybe there are not such sinister motives at play.

I struggle to see how that can be the case in the cups though. The Premier League fixture computer can be dodgy as it likes, but outside of 'magic balls' there's no way Noel Gallaghers fixing the cup draw.

How would you go about fixing a cup draw?

Considering it is not filmed in front of a live audience, considering that the bowl is no longer see through, they could easily fix it. They could film each bloke doing the numbers picking out each number, and just put it together to make the draws they want. The numbers could be put in order in a tube which brings a ball(cube) up one by one, and to make it look convincing they shake a fake cube's around before going into the middle and getting the one they want.

I love a good conspiracy theory.

Out of the last 16 random draws in the FA Cup and League Cup, we have been drawn at home 3 times.

Chelsea, Liverpool and City playing away against decent PL sides... wouldn't be surprised if any of them drop out...

Aye that's why I reined it in a bit. I doubt the FA and Carling are fixed. I'm sick of being away though! Maybe Noel is told to feel the balls (ooer) and the numbers on them are slightly raised so.................actually I'll stop its ridiculous! We've just got no luck.

I still think PL and CL fixtures are a farce. Several managers have actually made ambiguous remarks about the CL draws. Moreorless certain that certain teams will not meet, others will. They can't fix the competition because everyones destiny is still in there own hands, but they can influence it. Should they really be dictating PL fixtures too? I mean that has the potential to completely decide a season. If you get a tough run of games at the wrong time, or a variety of other things. Its not right.
