Something I read very early on in the piece suggested that you would have to be in close contact with a carrier for at least 15 minutes to contract the virus.
I’ve read that a few times, but not sure of the source. It doesn’t make much sense to me, it might mean you have an increased chance of getting it through ‘viral load’ (charming phrase) but surely if someone coughs in your face, or you touch an infected surface and then rub your eye you have at least some chance of getting it? Bit late to find out now.....
I've always suspected that the viral load thing was significant and that you would only become very ill from sustained exposure.
In an attempt to distance themselves from the clusterfuck that's happening down there, Nicola and co have decided to rename "Test and Trace" to "Test and Protect", a subtle wording but exactly the same process, so open to ignoring exactly the same as down there. Heard the Clinical Director Prof Jason Leitch being questioned on the local news and he reckons results of tests in Scotland will be available in under 24 hours, much faster than down south, although we obviously have a smaller population to test here. Meanwhile, Boris is getting slammed in the polls up here.... And he has an approval rating of -25 at the moment...and this poll was before Cumgate! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-52795997
I listen to the radio earlier and listened to a PM that I think has lost his bottle, and struggled to answer any question with any conviction. He should have the guts to stand up to scummings and sack him or give him the option to resign. He has lost all credibility at present and for someone that looks up to Churchill as an inspiration I can only see him losing the next election should he get that far. I am concerned that there will be a second wave of this virus. Whenever I see Hancock on TV I am beginning to wonder just how much he has his hands tied. I sill think that he will be a casualty of the calamity cockup hat the tories are now "managing". Anyway, I hope you all wish me well. I am an eye test tomorrow, and need to get to London. I thought should I stay local or do a cummings and as I have advised people before I thought I would do this the cummings way and have a long scenic drive to test my eyes before the actual test..
The 15 minute rule is nonsense, even by the government standards. If we can pick it up from a surface and then by rubbing your face ...it is obvious nonsense. If you can pick it up from a sneeze or a cough ...its nonsense If you can pick it up from an aerosol when you speak.... it is nonsense. It is to avoid an overload on the track and trace system because they HAVEN'T GOT A WORKING APP. When I go to Tescos, how many people do I meet for 15 minutes....no-one....even the check out lady I am in contact with for less than 5 minutes... In the last 8 weeks I have seen no-one for more than 15 minutes (except hubbie)
So if you get a phone call from a contact tracer telling you that you have been in close contact with someone who was positive with the virus, when you ask who it was, they aren't able to tell you because of data protection. You almost certainly have no symptoms, but are expected to self-isolate for 14 days without being given a test. Not going to happen - 65% say that Cummings has made them less likely to comply.
Stainsey ....I have just heard Matt Hancock say you have the rest of the year off. Everytime you are in contact with a Covid positive patient you MUST self isolate for 14 days. So go in to work, find yourself a positive patient, take a fortnight off ....back to work for a day, find apatient...fortnight off........ad infinitum He has said that some people (i.e. might be off work for a while!)
Exactly the point I was making earlier. As you do not know who that was, you cannot judge. But don't worry...the system only works if the person tells the tracer your contact details. If they do not know your name etc they cannot tell the tracers, so the motto is DON'T TELL THEM YOUR NAME PIKE! (doh)
I have a strong suspicion that they haven’t launched the app because they know the uptake will be embarrassingly low. The 15 minute stuff is increasingly arbitrary the longer you look at it, though duration of exposure can’t be good for you. Would you stay in if you were offered a same day test with results within 12 hours? I probably would. Not otherwise though. I’d just continue with normal social distancing because according to the government I can’t give it to anyone else unless I am in their face for 15 minutes. I’m now very confused about the mask advice. Under the 15 minute rule it would seem they play no role at all. Good job hardly anyone is wearing them, and, having achieved their objective, the BBC and other media screechers have stopped going on about them. Interesting that the government and its advisors will bow to this non evidence based pressure, yet the media, with plenty of evidence including a confession, can’t get them to dump Cummings.
That's the obvious hole in the system. Anyone named as having been in contact with the virus should be given an immediate test and given near-to immediate results. Very few will isolate on the off-chance. World-beating my arse!
If I get a call, I'm going to tell them that I have symptoms and I've been in close contact with Dominic Cummings and all the Chelsea first team squad.
The virus travels in the air from infected people talking and singing, let alone coughing, sneezing, kissing or getting in your knickers. The distance it travels depends on the environment, indoors more than outdoors, cold, dry air more than hot and humid. I've read this has been tested a number of times, last time in the Washington Post, so I guess it is all true
