The EFL are doing it on the cheap of course...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52747798

After the first COVID19 test when training begins, Championship players will be expected to do their own tests at home twice a week.
I wonder how many will also sign the waiver.
International Players' Union FIFPRO are very unhappy about it, but the PFA don't seem bothered.

    Continuing the incest theme...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52752877

    Football without fans is nothing.

So expect the Premier League to try all kinds of cringeworthy nonsense, like crowd noises over the PA.
Or dubbing crowd noises into the broadcast (with a 10 second transmission delay it might be possible).
I wouldn't put it past the broadcasters to even try CGI fans in the stands.
    Technically difficult, and utterly pointless.

    Also, well said Nathan Blake:

So Hull City are desperate for season to be voided - wonder why.

Personally, would love the season to continue. South London's best are only 2 points off of the playoffs and have some very easy games to play <cheers>
I would feel very very sorry for a team to be relegated after being out of the bottom 3 for all bar 1 game :emoticon-0107-sweat:emoticon-0107-sweat

The mentality of Lee Bowyer may create a conflict within the Charlton squad over this virus.

Bowyer has spoken many times about his players being men (using that term as a compliment, usually after a spirited performance).
The implication of course is that if they don't show spirit (or bravery?) in his eyes, they are not men.

Will Lee Bowyer regard the reluctance of some players to train or play because they may fear catching the virus and taking it home to their families as a weakness?
As a disappointment to him because they are not manning up?

If he does hold that view, and if he expresses it, that could cause heated argument and division in the dressing room.
When you're in the relegation zone, more division among players is absolutely the last thing you want.

Well, perhaps the second to last thing.

Nothing manly about trying to avoid a lethal virus, that you might catch without symptoms, and pass on to vulnerable loved ones, and thereby lose a father, grandmother or aunt. It's just common sense. The idea was to start the season when it was safe to do so, not as some sort of testerone fantasy to help the EFL out of the corner they are in.
    Safety fu%%ing first.

I agree with you completely Ken.

I'm not saying Lee Bowyer WILL have the attitude I suggested in my earlier post.
I'm just speculating that he might.

I'd never think anything less of a player who doesn't want to return to training or playing because he fears for the safety of himself or his family.
But I'm not Lee Bowyer, and I'm not under the pressure he will be under to field a competitive team if games begin again.

If the season is played out, and Charlton are relegated, who will be blamed?
The players who would not play will be blamed.
    And that is totally wrong.

Anybody out there who thinks that managers and players in the Championship will not have their arms twisted to get matches on, and be coerced in all manner of ways, is living in a fantasy world.

The final paragraph is it 150%. Anybody that contests this is talking b*******.

As for the Premier League, words fail me. Get football on the tele and putting money before lives stinks, EVERY Premier League player should make a stand and refuse to play.

Good read, and I imagine it would hit our Sunderland play off memories. As memory serves both our play off wins were predeeded by us storming up the table in the last ten or so games, arriving on real form. Which suggests ppg taken in march would have given us comfy mid table dullness. No super Clive Mendonca hattrick, no last minute winner by the BFG.
It's a problem no matter what. But ppg is rubbish.

I disagree with Bowyer, but he's the manager and knows a lot more about what's going on.

I still can't see how any team can field a virtually full strength squad without a significant number of those players being coerced into playing.
    And that is simply wrong.

    A total shambles.

I would not be surprised if they start playing then it gets cancelled.
