I suppose it must be difficult for journalists to query the actions of any government that is lead by someone previously recognised by senior cabinet colleagues as a liar (he was previously sacked by Michael Howard specifically for lying). Not a political point but simply a statement of published fact.

People have been breaking lockdown, laws, guidelines since since Day 1

Most of these people have never heard of Cummings & don't give a **** what he does or doesn't do.

Anyone with any sense will continue to distance themselves as as much as possible, as often as possible and not have any contact with other people as much as possible. Only a terminally dumb **** will seize upon this affair and endanger their own lives by using it to increase contact with others.

Are people really so stupid as to think 'Cummings did so I can'?

If they do, they probably have been ignoring good guidance all along.....

Just been shown on the news though with confirmation that it came from the official account and has been taken down.

Imagine the outcry from the apologists if instead of travelling the length of the Country whilst infected with a highly infectious deadly disease, during his own lockdown, to celebrate his Mother’s birthday under the guise of getting childcare, that he didn’t get, & then returning on at least one other occasion, which coincidently coincided with his wife’s birthday, he had opened a can of mojito on the underground. **** me, it’d be bedlam.

You have more faith in people's judgement than I do. But regardless of what all these people do none of them are in a position to discredit the government the way DC has just done. That's why he needs to go.

My point being that the Beeb, IMHO, fail to report the news in a fair and balanced way, and seen intent on trying to persuade people to think the way they want us to, rather than just report the truth. I know it's an old chestnut but it won't go away.

There is only one poster banging on about B***** on this thread. Stop trying to shut down legitimate discussion by invoking banned topics on this board.

Cummings is an unelected special adviser who elbowed his way onto SAGE, then totally disregarded the rules that SAGE published. The rules that every single person in this country has to follow and the majority of us have tried to go along with for the good of us all. Rarely has there been something that impacted virtually every single person in this country since the end of rationing. To be gaslit and told that the rules that we followed weren’t really the rules at all, and we all could have been following instinct instead is insulting. It’s like being told that actually, we could all have been getting extra bacon round the back of the butchers on a nod and a wink and spivs were performing a vital public service.

I think a round of good old fashioned civil disobedience will follow, and the beaches and national parks will be heaving tomorrow. I can only hope we don’t have a resulting spike in covid cases. This is still serious.

As stated a few times already, Cummings is hated because of his role in Brexit- that's what fuels some of this 'affair'.

So the numerous people angry about missing their relatives’ funerals, or being unable to care for their sick parents, or having to tough out Covid19 at home while looking after their kids - they are saying that to reverse Brexit. Crikey, that’s deep.

    Or stupid, obviously.

    It was their own fault.

They didn't care enough to have the instinct to do anything about it

The oft quoted defence of the BBC when bias is suggested is that all party supporters, regardles of their position on the political spectrum, have made the same claim. I do feel that this chaotic government is providing them with too much ammunition to resist.

The civil service social media person (who didn’t potentially kill people on a coronavirus road trip) is going to be the one who gets fired for breaking the rules.

    Sounds about right.
