I've never met the guy and wouldn't know him from a bar of soap, as my lovely old Nan used to say, but various incidents broadcast on TV, including yesterday's bizarre Finding Nemo ball waving episode have led me to question where Cummings lies on the Spectrum.

His lack of emotional intelligence appears quite alarming for a man in his position.

I'm guessing spending two and a half years in a bunker didn't help either.

David Cameron once referred to him as a 'career psychopath', looks a pretty accurate description now.

FFS - I know if I thought I might be ill the first place I'd want my child looked after is with my family and the absolute last place is have them taken into care with the local authority - and if anyone says differently theyre either lying or don't give a **** about their kids - I can't stand Cummings but all this **** is ****ing pathetic - I haven't heard much from the nobs on twatter getting all excited about Starmer sending his kids to school and putting our ever so precious and delicate teachers lives at risk

Why are you excited by something literally no one has suggested?
Govt guidance is send kids to school, which is what Starner did
Govt guidance was to stay in your home if you’re symptomatic, which is what Cummings didn’t do.
    Spot the difference.

What is it you’re FFSing about?

That's all well and good if pub landlords are doing the same.

I don't think your view, whatever side of the political fence you are on,has much influence on your opinion.I'd hazard a guess that your politics and mine are poles apart but I also think he's wronged, flouted the lockdown and the law and subsequently he needs to be kicked out.People in positions of power need to be seen as setting examples not doing as they please...

Spot on. It’s not a matter of loopholes in guidance, it’s a matter of leadership

I'm really not understanding why people are defending a politician breaching the government guidance.

It's irrelevant which party he is, which seems to be flavouring individual opinion.

It is the same as hoarding toilet rolls, flocking to the beach, etc.

If anyone condones that behaviour, they are the problem, ergo a ****.

I agree with the first part. But he's deeply unpopular. A section of society are obsessed with him and will use anything to get him sacked. His wife apparently lied. Stupid of him to let himself get caught.

The UK's response to the pandemic seems to have been entirely political - swinging backwards and forwards to appease the loudest voices. Big mistake in hindsight. Should have been handed over to a 'scientific experts' quango, who did the press releases and decisions, completely letting the government off the hook, as in other European countries. As Cityman writes, Starmer pulling a blinder - moving away from the Corbyn losers and sitting back letting the Tories screw themselves.

Cummings (like Alastair Campbell was for Blair) is not an elected politician.

He is an adviser. A maverick adviser for a maverick PM.

These lockdown rules are not proper law , they are 'guidelines'.

It's a massive opportunity for all the Remoaner #fbpe # 'I stand with Jeremy' types to land some blows on Cummings at last.

You know when you have that Caledonian buffoon SNP's Ian Blackford wheeled out as the attack dog, Labour shadow cabinet are not taking it seriously.

Normal people have every right to be angered by the apparent hypocrisy, but ultimately no one appears to have died as a result of his trips to Durham, and right now there are bigger issues to worry about as long as the death toll is in 3 figures each day.

Last time I take your advice Chazz.

I've just had a very uncomfortable conversation with a member of the Durham Constabulary who has advised me in no uncertain terms about a security issue.
