Agreed - something had gone on backstage that fans don't get to know about; that doesn't stop the speculation though.
Milinkovic's disquiet is pretty clear, and is referred to in that article. He was signed to replace Grosicki, but Grosicki wasn't sold. You can see why he would be a bit narked by that, although the way he carried on subsequently was totally unacceptable.
We do seem to have a record of not getting the best out of players, for whatever reason. Dicko, Diomande and Josh King spring to mind as well as Milinkovic.
Diomande was simply played out of position and I think King was just too early, he looks a completely different player to the one we had on loan (as happened with Noble when we had him on loan).
Diomande was fine but was injured when he came in which meant he basically had to hit the ground running when fit, and still scored a few goals.
Ben Arfa really springs to mind for me, well insofar as he could be arsed to spring for anything when he was here
There's been times in his career when he had been unstoppable. Still one of the best players I've ever seen live. Not playing for us obvs.
Precisely. I remember before he came the post from a Toon fan saying he’d come down to watch us just so he could see him playing live again, and my own excitement from what I’d seen on MOTD. Then just, well, nowt.
I didn't put him in my list as I didn't think he wanted to be here in the first place, he just chose to be a lazy bastard while we had him.
Yeah, I don’t know whether it was he didn’t want to be here, or whether it was more that Brucie never wanted him here, but it clearly resulted in a genuine footballing genius being mightily pissed off and not trying.
City are allegedly keen on signing Burton Albion attacking midfielder Scott Fraser(25) on a free transfer this summer (Daily Record).
Have a look at the current list of players just coming back from long term injury. Guarantee some of them will be Hull City players next season.
