Everyone over the age of five in the UK, with symptoms, can now be tested for coronavirus. It seems we now have far more testing capacity, than we have people coming forward for tests.

Health secretary @MattHancock says over 21,000 contact tracers have been recruited in England, including 7,500 healthcare professionals who will provide call handlers with "expert clinical advice".

Have passed the Humber Bridge testing set up several times now during my permitted exercise period, and it has been totally empty to very quiet. The "queuing" signs and 20mph limit on Ferriby Road to manage excess traffic seem rather optimistic.

If that means that everyone in the NHS that wanted a test has got one, then that's good, surely? We need as many people as possible to get tested so we know if we need to isolate or just have ordinary man-flu. I'm feeling unwell at the moment, but I don't think itchy eyes are a covid symptom, its more likely bastard hayfever.

There was a bloke from there on the Burnsy show this morning, saying it was going really well and they were now testing very large numbers. He took a pop at the HDM, who've run a story today about a disgruntled member of staff, who said he was working 12 hour shifts, getting no breaks, no hi vis jacket, not the pay he was promised etc, etc, basically said it was nonsense.

Looks like Nicola's moving from Stay Home to Stay Alert...

Scotland could begin easing its coronavirus lockdown measures from the end of May.

People might be allowed to meet up with someone from another household, visit garden centres and participate in some sports, Nicola Sturgeon has announced.

The first minister said changes to the lockdown restrictions could be made "within days" of the next review date on 28 May if the country continues to make progress against COVID-19.

Spain are looking to remove the quarantine restrictions over the next month or so and allow holidaymakers back by the end of June.

There's always one. It's a massive set up there, there's loads of portakabins and parked cars and people round the "non-testing" area, its impressive when you consider what logistics and organising would have been needed. Surprise Burnsy didn't do the reporting himself given he lives in Hessle.

Don’t want to worry you, but I can’t in any conscience not tell you that my mother-in-law’s first sign that she was unwell was very sore eyes. The last trip outside her house before she was diagnosed and had to self-isolate was to the pharmacist for some eye-drops.

thanks mate - pretty sure it's hayfever as it started a couple of months ago, its just particularly bad today for some reason. Presume something came into flower over the weekend that I'm really sensitive to. No fever, no aches - just itchy red eyes, bunged up sinuses and a mild "allergy" cough (not the gut busting cough of being ill IYSWIM) and I'm always really tired and drowsy on days like this.

Anyway, if it is covid, I aren't got far to go to get tested.

I wonder if the Scottish government might choose another word rather than Alert...

Very relieved to hear that, and assume that if it was a more common symptom rather than my anecdotal one then people would know by now. It was just the alarm bells that rang as I recall her phone conversation with my missus about being a bit ‘chesty’ which she thought was just one of those things, but having really sore eyes and needing some drops. She had that for three or four days before the more severe breathing difficulties started.
