I never used the word "anybody" ... I was attempting to demonstrate that there was a difference between attitudes to China and the likes of Germany where we readily accept their figures ... in hindsight "deeply rooted and sometimes hysterical mistrust" might have been a better phrase than "xenophobic" ...but let's not try and hide away from the fact that there is also an element of that ... but none of that changes the real point ... China's handling of their domestic situation has been way better than ours ... they reacted in the same way as all the other "success" stories... so why wouldn't they achieve a similar outcome? ... happy to wait for a plausible explanation from the doubters ... but there won't be one ...
