Just visited a construction site not too far from me to tender for some houses. Shocked is not the word. A couple of signs about social distancing and that's about as far as it goes. To be fair, the 2 metre rule cant really be adhered to. It's impossible. Anyway, take it on the chin and keep spreading.
I have been saying this for weeks now, but still cannot get an answer as to why 127,000 tests only equates to 77,000 people. This is such bad news on several different levels. Only between 3-5% of the population have had it. There is still a lot of people still to get the disease on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th wave. A 1/4 were assymptomatic, so 1:4 will not show the disease so will not self-isolate (because they have no reason to). I do not think what we call normal life will be the same for many years to come....
Interesting comment by the woman in Scotland on QT. Science is science wherever you are in the world. It's a political decision on how you act upon this science
A reluctant ‘like’ because I think you are right. Vaccine and/or effective treatments the only genuine ways out, proper concrete science rather than some of the rubbish we have been presented with recently.
If I'm watching a film, I know if it's bad we'll before the end. If it was a bad film that was meant to last 2:00:00 and was still running at 4:00:00 then I'd think something was badly broken.
with reference to the APP and personal information being stored. Isn't the majority of our personal information "out there anyway" on a computer somewhere. For example, if you have a shop loyalty card, that company knows your preference. If you buy goods on a credit card your preferences can be established. If you have a mobile phone you infor is stored. If you are unlucky enough to have an I phone U2 send you their latest album and then charge you for it..whether you want it or not. Thankfully I'm crap at tech....
That's the problem though, isn't it. The level of trust for the government throughout the country has to be high to make downloading the app even remotely successful. The more mis-truths that are spread, the less likely people are to allow the goverment to install this on your device, which then puts the whole project basically in the bin.
Are you assuming I’m “ certain folk “ ? Because A / I do mind being lied to and B / I don’t like Folk ( music and some people ) C / I’m not always certain ( except about Yorkshire Folk ) Other than that I’m all good
Apparantly it wont be ready til June despite Barclay saying it was getting rolled out next week. Pushed further, that translated that it would be discussed in parliment next week. These lot try mislead at every opportunity and I just dont understand why.
If the flat cap fits ha . I never assume anything, apart from not getting laid on a night, then it's a bonus when it happens!
I think the only “certainty’s “ in life are death and taxes, and getting laid comes under miraculous, have we got a miraculous thread yet ?
Too much doom and gloom. If some want to lock themselves away waiting for a vaccine, that's their choice, but I want to get on with my life as normally as possible as soon as possible. Why shouldn't we just accept that this virus is now part of our lives, take whatever precautions we feel are appropriate to us as individuals and family groups, and carry on with life? I still feel that the estimate of 5% of the population having already had the virus is too low, given the high levels of those that will have been asymptomatic. As an optimist, I prefer to believe the piece I posted earlier which suggested that there were now as few as 24 new cases daily in London, down from 200,000 a day at the peak.
I too think it must be too low too Stroller, but is that the optimist in me, who wants to believe a good percentage of people have seen the virus already. If they haven't how did the virus shoot through the population as it did. How did our "alledged" patient zero infect so many people by just coming back from a ski-ing holiday I am also still very shocked at Stans figures yesterday of a test of all staff at Addenbrooks , and 999s figures from the Marsden. Showing less than 1%of staff had it...and all were assymptomatic. These low figures are just not what I would expect when we are still getting 300 deaths a day
The game changer will be antibody or antigen tests. a saliva test that gives you results within 15 minutes would be a godsend for the aviation and hospitality industries for starters. The vaccine may never arrive so we will need other ways to move on with this disease.
