    Watford have now joined Brghton & Aston Villa in publicly opposing the Neutral venues element of Project Restart;

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52598311

This issue still puzzles me a bit, but as long as the general thrust is opposition to #moneybeforelives I'm all for it.
Sadly, the PL can force the issue if they secure 14 votes out of the 20 Clubs.

Will Watford, Brighton and Villa refuse to play if they lose the vote?
And if they do, will the PL expel them?
Somehow, I think they will give in rather than be kicked out of the Prem. Money will prevail, and some players' loved ones will pay the real price eventually.

Football stinks with all the money involved, the Premier League have confirmed this now.

I'm glad I watch football with 50 people in a ground.

Did anybody watch that Korean football game on the telly?

It was played in an empty stadium, but I hear they actually began to pipe crowd noises through the PA system <laugh>
When somebody scored a goal, a cheer came through about 5 seconds later.
(admittedly not as bad as VAR)

And I've heard it said that in Germany they are planning to put cardboard cut-out fans in the stands <laugh><laugh><laugh>
I'm looking forward to seeing footage of that.

Piped crowd noises, cardboard fans. Absolutely priceless.
There is no limit to how much these people will embarrass themselves in the pursuit of making money from football.

I watched Jeobak Motors vs Suwon Bluewings. Finished 1-0 to the Motors.

I didn’t notice crowd noises, just a K Pop version of Seven Nation Army.

Here is what the Premier League fears the most...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52579299

The Gravy Train derailed. The Bubble finally burst.

I've lost some sleep over lots of different things during this virus crisis.
But I won't be losing any over the fall of the Premier League monster.

I think I might have got the 'crowd noise' info from a brief TV news report I watched.
I guess the crowd noise was used at another match somewhere, not the actual one the BBC showed...

Danny Rose speaks out against 'Project Restart' <applause>

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52630497

Good lad Danny <ok> though maybe best to mind your language on social media... :emoticon-0183-swear

And my hero Sadiq Khan also says it's too soon to think about Premier League Football re-starting.
That's twice in a week now I've agreed with something he has said :emoticon-0104-surpr

    There you have it Gentlemen;

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52651502

The Championship plans to return to full training on 25th May! (that's a week on Friday)
And play the next round of fixtures on 13th June!

But remember folks, don't bother trying to get tickets because these games will all be behind closed doors.
And don't travel to the grounds these games will be played on.
Crowds of rival fans on the streets could lead to disorder, as well as become infection hotspots.

I wonder if all our players will be back from injury by June 13th?

To be fair, I suppose they are trying to limit 'unnecessary' contact.
You don't have to shake hands to play a game of football, but you do sometimes have to tackle.

In the same way as you may need to barge another player during a game, but it's not necessary to jump all over a team mate or hug him when he scores a goal*.

Also, it is not necessary to pat the referee on the back in a fake friendly manner when he makes a decision you don't like.
Of course, this was always unnecessary as well as against the rules, but that never stopped some players from doing it.

The question the authorities don't seem to want to ask is why a re-start of professional football is deemed necessary.
Football does not save lives like the NHS does.
Football does not deliver food to the shops.
    Football is entertainment.

An argument can be made that football is vital to the mental health of the nation, so can do a great deal of good if it starts up again.
(ignoring of course the spike in domestic abuse assaults always reported after a round of games).

But anyway, against the mental health argument is the same one that prevents pubs, restaurants, cinemas and shops from re-opening.
Close contact between people will spread the virus.

Opinion seems to be that minimising risk of infection is more important right now than allowing pubs, restaurants, cinemas and shops to open again.
Also that minimising infection risk is more important than allowing people to see family members who are not part of their household.
But minimising infection risk is not more important than having live football to watch on TV, and a return of 'Match of the Day'.
And not more important than preserving the Premier League gravy train.

It's money before lives, plain and simple.
Unless of course, the PL is going to donate all its profits to the NHS until a vaccine is available.

    * This is going to be one of the weirdest things about 'new normal' Football of course.

As well as crowd noises piped over the public address system (which will happen eventually) and probably cardboard cut-out supporters in the empty stands, we will get to watch a player score a goal, and then run away celebrating while his team-mates run in his wake at least 2 metres away from him, and from each other.

There is another issue here..... it is NOT safe to have tackling in training sessions but it IS safe to tackle in games ??

    Spot on.

There's no profit in training, so safety (which comes second to profit) can be observed.

Once the match kicks off, profit comes before safety.
    Money comes before lives.

There will never be a more blatant example.

By the way, I just heard that only one third of Germans think that re-starting the Bundesliga is a good idea.

More than 50% of them are against it.
