It's nuts. Go anywhere in the world in a Clash t shirt and people will come up and talk to you for ages about the band and Punk and London and...well, anything really.

In this country, it's not part of the culture because it was pretty much screened out by radio and tv.

Motorhead t-shirts in every clothing store. Motorhead on the radio? Not so much.

No word of a lie, this is 100% accurate...

When wearing Ramones t shirts started to become 'a thing' (must be 12 years ago or more), a barmaid at our local (who was wearing one at the time) sidled over to me and asked...

    "Brian, what is a Ramone...?"

    I nearly soiled myself.

Kendall Jenner wearing a 1987 Slayer European tour t-shirt. She was born 8 years after that.
Part of a trend that includes Beyonce's "Slayonce" tour pin, Rihanna's death metal logo and various crap singers ripping off... everyone, really.
    ****e.

What is a Ramone, anyway? <whistle>

Spent a pleasant evening watching a guy called Jamal - AKA- Jamal on you tube , he plays classic rock tracks that he's not heard before and gives his reaction to them, it gives a sense of warmth and I told you so when he listens to Dark Side Of The Moon , Great Gig In The Sky but at the same time he said that he is a music love l think where have you been for the last 20yrs ?

    It's a 47-year-old album... <whistle>

His reactions to Rage Against The Machine are good, too. Not sure how he missed them, either.

Doing some decorating in the bedroom today. I thought that I'd listen to the radio. Mrs B had left it on Absolute. The first song was a request from a listener under the guise of 'I haven't heard it for ages...'

The disc jockey then introduces Guns 'n' Roses' version of 'Sympathy for the Devil'. I'd never heard this 'thing' before...and if I ever hear it again, it will be far, far too soon.

Here's something to take the taste away...

I went to one of the shows , Earl's court May 73 , one of the most amazing shows I've seen, started with a model Spitfire flown from the back of the auditorium, exploding behind the drummers kit, still got the ticket stub inside the album cover £1.75

If your looking for a good music film to watch try "2O Feet from stardom " the story of the backing singer ,the story of Merry Clayton who sang backing vocals on Gimmi Shelter while 7 months pregnant, in a house coat and hair curlers in one take , Darlene Love, Lisa Fischer
These women are the ones who's voices make the hits , the bits that we all holler along with while we're driving
    Try it

BBC2 did have 'Something Else' which was a programme for 'young people made by young people' and the first series in 1979 did include performances by The Clash, The Jam, Joy Division, and Siouxsie and The Banshees - I think the programme ran for 3 or 4 years and Weller had a hand in another programme in 1981 focussing on class division and on which he managed to get to bands The Questions and Apocalypse that were signed to the record labels that we was involved with at the time.

That programme also featured this performance of one Wellers apocalyptic visions -

A superb rendition of this often overlooked song

I think that I was pretty nice about it, really.

Wendy (the barmaid) was a nice sort with great tits...although not as great as her sister, who posed for Club International Magazine back in the day and who was, by then, our child minder.

Never **** on your own doorstep and always respect a great pair of knockers.
