I think I just beat you stick. In terms of placings 2-1 and in terms of lengths beaten, by not a lot. In terms of returns (the only one that matters) a dead heat
I have this total belief in "early foals" and its actually a complete load of bollocks. It should make sense that when all the horses are two the ones born first should have developed more but in truth the only way to be confident of a juvenile (or a store for that matter) is to go to the parade ring. Unless of course your name is Nassau Board and your paddock pick invariably turns out to be a donkey!
That Wooded could be worth following in sprints. Bred to be a tough out and out sprinter, he had only been raced at 7f before today, twice being pipped on the post. Today he got 6f and won readily in a fast time. Looks as though he doesn't mind any going without the word firm in it so far (hasn't ran on anything faster than good)
Hard to say with these things. Wooded was a very impressive winner today. My Love's Passion and Abama ran similarly in relation to their last meeting today, with Wanaway the disappointment of the three with tied form. Still a bit miffed with leaving Wooded alone after missing the 9/2 last night. This was the race that cast doubt in my mind that he was value at 5/2:- https://www.attheraces.com/atrplayer-popup/VOD/1115597?showResult=yes That 7F run did not really suggest that a drop in trip would necessarily help. Oh well. To add insult to injury I didn't see that Hurricane Ivor was out today. The Ivawood colt hosed up on debut and was favourite for the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot before the trainer declared that he would not come over. He went for a Group 3 in France in late June instead but didn't fire at Odds-On. I opposed him that day with the Ward horse Maven but was perhaps lucky to win with the favourite off key, Hurricane Ivor did not run again last year but he was just about the pick of the form today based on his debut romp. However, The Racing Post list of cards for today's meeting skipped from the 12.00 to the 1.12 race, omitting the 12.30 race. My own fault for not realising the gap between races was too big but still annoying to see Hurricane Ivor romping home by three and a half lengths at 4/1. please log in to view this image CHANTILLY (FR) 10:00 - 2:57 Flat 9 races GOING TURF: GOOD TO SOFT 10:00 Prix du Belvedere (Conditions) (3yo Colts & Geldings) (Turf) (3yo) 1m SKY 8 runners 10:30 Prix de la Pistole (Conditions) (3yo Fillies) (Turf) (3yo) 1m SKY 6 runners 11:00 Prix de la Reine Blanche (Maiden) (Unraced 2yo Fillies) (Turf) (2yo) 5f SKY 15 runners 11:30 Prix d'Orgemont (Maiden) (Unraced 2yo Colts & Geldings) (Turf) (2yo) 5f SKY 8 runners 12:00 Prix du Viaduc de Commelles (Claimer) (2yo) (Turf) (2yo) 5f SKY 14 runners 1:12 Prix Texanita (Group 3) (3yo) (Turf) (3yo) 6f SKY 13 runners 1:47 Prix de Roissy (Handicap) (4yo+) (Turf) (4yo+) 6f SKY 18 runners 2:22 Prix de Versigny (Handicap) (4yo+) (Turf) (4yo+) 6f SKY 17 runners 2:57 Prix de Rosieres (Handicap) (4yo+) (Turf) (4yo+) 6f SKY 17 runners No 12.30 race (Bastardos) What was that old TV advert, "Where there's blame, there's a claim"?
Disappointing from Wanaway. She looked like she got a little worked up down at the start too so I kind of knew my fate at the start. I also saw that Ron backed her so that was another worry for me..
A couple of bits of reaction today to yesterday's racing. "My Love's Passion ran her race and I don't think she suffered from being isolated like that," said her trainer, Yann Barberot. She was courageous and has just stumbled on two good horses." Al Shaqab's representative said:- "It was an excellent comeback and both Wooded and the second have finished well clear of the rest of their group. We can dream of the Commonwealth Cup now, if that is what Sheikh Joaan and Francis decide, and if it is possible to travel. In France he would have to face older horses, but I think he deserves a crack at Group 1 company." That is what I felt myself about Wooded. The older sprinters are not that good and unless the other 3YO sprint types come good, Wooded may have a say despite not really having an obvious sprinter's campaign last season.

Which one of us is it bad news for, that we agree on something Ron? I'd say that question would have a photo finish answer
