I want to watch it but genuinely don't want to worry myself about it! For the most part, seeing this as something which lasted until the end of summer or so seemed manageable. A pain in the arse yes, but at least a big chunk of people still have jobs and the economy will (eventually) recover. The thought of this lasting until next year... the government would have to bring in universal basic income surely? No way we can support wages for a whole year. Just this morning they said about reigning in the job retention scheme.
As I understand it, I might be wrong, the French have borders within their own country where the virus is worst. The population can't travel freely within France. The French from the most infected area can come here, with no quarantine. And yet the Welsh have restrictions to visit England. Have I got this right?
It was good, because it’s the nurses and doctors doing the filming so it’s about them coping against it. It was good to see it from their eyes. One thing I did notice was working nurse was upbeat happy, at home nurse they looked drained.
It's the same in Spain from my understanding. Therefore I'd hope that anyone travelling here from France would only be permitted from certain areas and for Gods sake would also hope that they would be tested before and after the journey ! And also why are Ireland exempt from the 14 day lockdown upon arrival into the UK ? The wider implications of opening up international travel into the UK, especially from the Americas before there is a vaccine are genuinely terrifying
Turns out I was completely wrong about the furlough scheme. Very interesting, still 80% until October.
You never know what's happening till you hear it directly at the moment Rob, I thought it would be reduced to 60% and continue but I was wrong as well.
I'm not sure I want to..... Where is the Doctor getting this information about the dates for subsequent waves from or is it just what he thinks ?
Very true. Have to applaud the Tories for that, very unlike their usual stance on most things. Not that this is a usual situation!
We all know our opinions Rob but in the situation we are in it's people that count, not politics and I'm for the people, who or what ever they are.
we cant freely travel in wales but the welsh can free travel here!...would seem the reasoning ...but Wales says stay inside, restricted travel and exercise as do Scotland and NI … people in CHEPSTOW could pop up to St BRIAVELS 2miles or less but what happens if they go back to wales after being away all day!!! people in St B shop in TESCO etc in Chepstow ! what he thinks... I have lost all faith in the BBC, they spend a lot of time just looking for the negative side of the argument, most of the people you generally on BBCtv you see are in areas/places/etc that are not critically hit!? and in the main are not prominent in their field [ cant say what the qualifications are of the Newport doc ]… also by stating they have not got or short of or wont cope may also bring attention to getting more …[ bit like we can get by, but if we say we cant we may get more !] so far the best visual aid has been the coloured "marbles".. even my 5 year old nephew can explain it you … but he finds it difficult to understand the R = .5 TO .9 as do a couple of older individuals...
I with you on this one angelic, BBC current affairs have become a non event in our home we have also switched to Sky News, I even listen to talkradio daytime, a lot better and a lot brighter.
He didn’t say where he got that info from sorry. 8 miles St Brievels to Chepstow It was filmed by nurses on phones and people cams , no one else commentating just nurses. The Gwent has the highest confirmed cases for head per population in the country. So carry on talking goobly gook and thinking you’re the all knowing being.
……. the UN knowing one! as for PPE etc it has been stated "we placed an order for x number of items but only got y number …. over subscription leads to higher demands .. so when the share out comes a % of what you wanted is usually the way forward as being deemed the fairest way..... simples really What about St Briavels? ! … it is actually about 2 miles from welsh border and likely 8 miles to Chepstow, I did not reread … was quoting off the BBC SITE … said 2 miles from Welsh B and no mention of distance to St B ….
I do feel that the government are in an impossible dilemma too. No certainty of a vaccine and it could be over a year if one ever does arrive. People won't stay in lockdown indefinitely so things have to change, regardless of the economy. The only option seems to be letting the majority get exposed but at a slow enough rate that the NHS can cope. I don't see any easy answer tbh.
I've just been on the Flight Radar site expecting the skies to be largely empty aside from cargo flights but there are 2 x BA Dreamliner flights that have just taken off for Dallas and Washington respectively, and there is an inbound Airbus A320 flight from Amsterdam to Heathrow about to land. Unless these are repatriation flights for the respective nations citizens, then people arriving in the UK or the US will surely have to self isolate for 14 days ? And even if that's true who then monitors these peoples whereabouts or are they detained at the airport after Immigration ?
so far there is no vaccine for SARS a similar virus and that is heading for 10 years! Although a number of companies /research labs are working on at least 3 [ 4 ] different approach's to covid This mentioned back at beginning of March, HERD IMMUNITY, along with some of the harsher comments that the aged would be the ultimate sacrifice if it came to 2 peeps in need of the remaining machine! hope the BBC don't pick up on that as I can see them making a banquet out of that especially regarding care homes! [ spin ] are they all passenger orientated or mixed? and one would expect 14 days to be the onus did notice a couple of vapour trails high up yesterday going E -W / W-E
All passenger according to the information I was getting. How full they are is unknown of course but there must be people on them otherwise they wouldn't be in the air, let alone be being tracked. I did see a BA A320 flying over our house yesterday quite low and it was going due west. I'd assume that it was en route to Cardiff to either be mothballed or for maintenance. Just looked at Heathrow Departures and these are the flights due over the next couple of hours. All are operating from T2 or T5 BA and codeshares to Gibraltar BA and codeshares to Miami Air Canada and codeshares to Abu Dhabi BA to Doha BA to Hong Kong BA and codeshares to Chicago Icelandair to Reykjavik BA and codeshares to New York There are later flights to Isle of Man, Islamabad, Madrid, Tokyo, Seoul, Rome, Dublin, Addis Ababa Incoming flights from Edinburgh, Barcelona, Geneva, Guangzhou, Frankfurt, Lahore, Sofia, Helsinki I'm truly gobsmacked by what appears to be the surprising scale of international travel that still appears to be going on during these times !!! Just looked at Bristol Airport and there are no arrivals or departures scheduled for today.
massive industrial area Sofia immigrant workers? The vapour trail I saw about early afternoon? was to high for Cardiff ?
